Commercial Description:
From the French word "Garde" meaning something worth keeping, this Farmhouse Styled Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother's old orchard. Relax and watch the evening arrive as the afternoon sun is consumed by the illuminating moon over the gardens. We brewed Avant Garde for you, our friends and families. Here's to things worth guarding over. http://www.lostabbey.com

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, GregClow, Jerc, and Garthicus, at Blankboy’s, courtesy of either Harry or Paul (I forgot to write down who brought what - thanks for sharing guys!). Dark yellow, small white head. Sweet, grainy aroma. Great taste - really neat fresh grain, some alcohol, dry and yeasty. Good stuff.

This golden orange ale poured into a snifter with a fluffy white head and a yeasty malt aroma. The first taste is sweet and fruity with a long herbal finish. The alcohol is not overbearing like some versions of biere de garde, but is pleasantly warming - an enjoyable drink.

Mild aroma of yeast and smells similar to an abbey triple. This is the first beer of this style i have come across and not really sure what it sits in the world of Belgian influenced beers.Color is a sold gold with film of foam on across trappist glass. The flavor is sour with yeast and dash of spice and pepper. strange aftertaste like as if i had just drank a warm pilsener. Its alright but im not to fond of these lost recipes

Bottle from the Sam-apostrophe-s in Downers Grove, IL. It poured a light golden amber body with a head full of multi-sized bubbles - all of which vanished pretty quickly and left no lace. The aroma was malty with touches of honeycombs and a light floral topping. The flavor had a woody maltiness, orchard fruit, honey, alcohol, and a floral bitterness. Not bad, but a bit costly for what it delivers.

First Official Houston Tasting. Pours a bright yellow with a small eggshell head. Aromas of orange peel, grains and bread. Flavor of apples, pie spices and some lightly spiced hops. Medium bodied mouthfeel with nice effervescence.

750 ml. Bottle; Aroma was fruity and grain on the nose also. Hazy gold body with white head. Flavor of apple fruit and a medium sourness to the flavor. Easy drinkable brew.

75 cl bottle pours a clear light amber with a fleeting white head. mostly a dry, grainy smell with a hint of herbal sweetness. Taste is biscuity, yeasty, with a dry finish. not too bad.

GABF 2006. Bottle. Extreme floral hops with a very subtle spice. Delicate aroma. Some coriander and orange peel. The beer is a golden body with fizzy white head. The flavor is a spicy coriander and is straw-like. The palate is spicy with a tart feel.
