COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late in November of 2011, Mike Rodriguez our head brewer asked about creating a Coffee and Cacoa Nib version of Serpentís Stout for the San Diego Strong Ale Festival. The beer was a hit with our fans. When we wrote up the syllabus for the Ultimate Box Set, we knew a version of this beer would be included. We waited until the very end of the release schedule to put this beer in a bottle so that the coffee and cacoa nibs really come through. Four Bourbon barrels were selected for their rich and dense chocolate flavors. One week before packaging, we added 17 lbs of Ryan Brothers Coffee and 4 lbs of TCHO Cacao Nibs were added to the coffee and cacao to steep before packaging.

Whoa.. one helluva beer. Seems so bold, yet very mild, all rounded, powerfull.. Perfect deep roasted malts all the way, but keeps solid smoothness, even more rounded when cocoa mildness comes in, some dried fruits, BA aspect and vanilla gives another dimension. Mostly sweet with decent bitterness. Perfectly sippable brew. Love it

Bourbon roast and chocolate with a moderate coffee presence. Way less assertive side by side with the victory. Black pour thinning head. Flavors of roast chocolate and bourbon mild coffee. Not bad just not as impressive as the victory. A little thin too. Boozy.

Keg at Route CBC, CBC Clapham, 02/10/15. Attractive opaque black coloured pour with a dark tan head that lasts. Flavour is bourban Barrel, oak and vanilla, rich dark choc and coffee, coconut and dark choc. Lovely. Aroma is toasted coconut, warming alcohol, caramel. Palate is full and velvety smooth, warm,ing alcohol. Lingering bitter dark choc. Very good indeed.

Bottle @ Dangerous Bottleshares #whoknowshowmany. Pours pitch black with a small dark brown head. Aromas of bourbon, coffee, chocolate, light tobacco, vanilla, dark fruits. Taste has coffee, bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, pepper, dark fruits. Wowza.

Heavy sweet dark fruit and chocolate aroma. Pours like motor oil with a thin quickly disappearing dark tan head. Hard candy. Cocoa. Dark fruit. Sweet malt. Boozy. Very good.

Bottle from Voldby. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma and taste is roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, cacao, vanilla, dark fruits, bourbon. Full body. Oily texture. Thick creamy mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Light bitter warming finish. Excellent.

37.5cl bottle served in a snifter. Pitch black, thick oily and a generous dark brown head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is heavy bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, fruit cake and booze. Taste is upfront sweetness with the creamy buttery bourbon taste but slightly hotter than some barrel aged imperial stouts which holds up well against the extreme level of flavours. The barrel aging has taken the rough edges from the standard serpentís stout and the added chocolate and coffee give an even more decadent backdrop of flavours. A thick and sticky mouthfeel with low carbonation but perfect for the style and as such gets a perfect score.

Bottle at Dangerous Bottleshares #17. Pours black with a dark brown head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, sweet bourbon, coffee, cocoa, toffee and some weak smoke. All in such a nice balance with each other. Awesome aroma. The taste has roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, dark fruits, cocoa and some bourbon. Awesome stuff. Better than expected!

Bottle at Dangerous Bottleshares #17. Pours a pitch black with a nice, big, dark tan head. Aroma has lots of dark chocolate, bourbon, coffee, vanilla, figs, sweet bourbon, dark malts, caramel, toast. Taste is more dry coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon, caramel, booze, fairly sweet, light bitterness. Light fruity. Nice, full body and a fairly low carbonation.
