COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late in November of 2011, Mike Rodriguez our head brewer asked about creating a Coffee and Cacoa Nib version of Serpent’s Stout for the San Diego Strong Ale Festival. The beer was a hit with our fans. When we wrote up the syllabus for the Ultimate Box Set, we knew a version of this beer would be included. We waited until the very end of the release schedule to put this beer in a bottle so that the coffee and cacoa nibs really come through. Four Bourbon barrels were selected for their rich and dense chocolate flavors. One week before packaging, we added 17 lbs of Ryan Brothers Coffee and 4 lbs of TCHO Cacao Nibs were added to the coffee and cacao to steep before packaging.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. A black one, topped by a small, tan head. The aroma has lots of coffee, a touch of licorice, some dark chocolate and cocoa, and quite a lot of roasted malts. It’s lightly warming on the palate, sort of boozy so I guess the barrel has some influence, full-bodied, dryish and still sweet. Loads of dark chocolate and cocoa in the flavor, with coffee blending in between. Lasting finish where the coffee are more pronounced than in the aroma and initial flavor, but with the same lovely dark chocolate and coffee. Wow, this is one hell of a beer.

Bottled. 10cl sample. The aroma has bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roast with nice smooth coffee tones. Black coloured beer with a thin, off-white lace. The taste is light bitter, has some sweetness, bourbon vanilla, chocolate. Smooth, full and complex. Really nice.

Piwo to potężny (13,5%) mariaż nut drewna i burbonu, kakao, czerwonych owoców, kawy i paloności. Już zapach miażdży zmysły, a w połączeniu ze smakiem i posmakiem kokosu i wanilii rozwala system.

375ml bottle - thanks martjoobolut! At 13.5%
Ugh - rubber and beans aroma, some booze too. Black, no head worth mentioning. Lightish mouthfeel, crispish carbonation. Taste much better, rich sweet vanillaey roast, and a dumper truck of bourbon with associated booze. However, it’s kinda pleasant. Some coconut in the finish with the sweet vanillaey roast. Ooof, that was a struggle, gullet is throbbing. Sweet boozy booze.
