COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late in November of 2011, Mike Rodriguez our head brewer asked about creating a Coffee and Cacoa Nib version of Serpent’s Stout for the San Diego Strong Ale Festival. The beer was a hit with our fans. When we wrote up the syllabus for the Ultimate Box Set, we knew a version of this beer would be included. We waited until the very end of the release schedule to put this beer in a bottle so that the coffee and cacoa nibs really come through. Four Bourbon barrels were selected for their rich and dense chocolate flavors. One week before packaging, we added 17 lbs of Ryan Brothers Coffee and 4 lbs of TCHO Cacao Nibs were added to the coffee and cacao to steep before packaging.

Bottle gift from SJ. This brew has a lot going on, but it is awesome. Notes of cacao, burnt / roasted malts, wood, a rich and dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and brown sugar. The blend is amazing, it’s like they took serpent stout which is all ready phenomenal and made it better.

Mega Tasting at Bruce’s pad. As ’Track #10’. Opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Palate is softish and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Rich dark chocolate, little coffee. Light bourbon and tangy dark fruits. Coffee becomes earthy before tge semi dry finish. Very nice.

Bottle shared at the BIG Friday tasting, massive thanks to our Ken for sharing the entire track set and also to Bruce for providing the accompanying music 03/01/14. This one labelled as "Lost Abbey Track #10 - Bat Out Of Hell. Thanks again to Ken for some old time music history relating to this one. Pitch black with a moderately appointed dirty tan covering that thins to spotting and edgework. Nose is green pepper, mineral tones, booze, earthy cocoa, spice, dark malts, light roast, rich dark chocolate. Taste comprises rich chocolate, light spice, coffee notes, toffee fudge, chocolate cake mix, boozey bourbon twang. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light booze and spice in a drying closure. Nice impy, well balanced, alocohol well integrated.
