COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late in November of 2011, Mike Rodriguez our head brewer asked about creating a Coffee and Cacoa Nib version of Serpent’s Stout for the San Diego Strong Ale Festival. The beer was a hit with our fans. When we wrote up the syllabus for the Ultimate Box Set, we knew a version of this beer would be included. We waited until the very end of the release schedule to put this beer in a bottle so that the coffee and cacoa nibs really come through. Four Bourbon barrels were selected for their rich and dense chocolate flavors. One week before packaging, we added 17 lbs of Ryan Brothers Coffee and 4 lbs of TCHO Cacao Nibs were added to the coffee and cacao to steep before packaging.

Aroma of chocolate, bourbon and booze. Espresso head. Full mouth. Big time chocolate and lots of booze. Tons of bourbon notes, vanilla and a roasted coffee finish. Mouth is creamy. It’s like a mocha candy bar dipped in bourbon. Real nice beer.

Black colour with a tan small head. Bourbon, alcohol, cacao, dark chocolate, mild roastiness. Really good.

12.7 ounce bottle. Pours a jet black color with a medium brown head. A big chocolate, licorice and bourbon nose. Huge coffee, roast, dark fruit, chocolates, very rich bourbon. Very smooth. Lots of balance achieved. The massive coffee deals so well with the bourbon. Awesome. Soft, huge dark fruit, really packs it all in. Wow. Very good.

Fast gone dark russet-brown head, over virtually black beer. Very roasted/burnt nose, but also aromas of cocoa, chocolate, coffee, including hints @sweetness. Vanilla, oak and copra. Roasted/burnt, burnt cocoabeans, wood, Bourbon, vanilline, fusels. Filthily rich, viscous, near syrupy, huge concentrated aromas, velvety feel, alcoholheat. Wow.

On tap at Memphis for the lost abbey event. Pours thick dark black midnight with a thicker but small burnt caramel colored head. Aroma brings amazing molten lava chocolate cake and fresh dough. Flavor brings sweet and thick chocolate liqueur and some brandy with the bourbon balancing well, a bit of spicy wood balancing out an awesome huge buddy.

bottle at home. Pours deep dark brown with a thin quickly disappearing dark brown head. Aroma is dark roasted and chocolate malts, roasted coffee beans and a little fruity punch of fresh coffee beans, a tad of whisky-ish alcohol. Medium body, roast and sweet, high on the alcohol. Taste is dark chocolate and malts.

Nice brown slightly fizzy creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and dry, dark malts, mild bourbon, cocoa, coffee, dark sugar, licorice, caramel, grassy chillies, oak, dark chocolate. Taste is slightly dry and sour-ish roasted, dark malts, mild bourbon, coffee, mild grassy chillies, cocoa, vanilla, dark sugar, minerals, hay, dark chocolate. Medium bitterness, slightly dry roasted mouthfeel with a nice very mild warming alcohol and chili touch in the back. Very nice and well balanced.
