Poured on tap it is a dark coffee brown with a small head. The aroma has caramel, cocoa and some molasses. Taste is extremely smooth. It has vanilla, bourbon and chocolate. The finish provides a slight alcohol burn with a long finish. Excellent beer.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap 4 oz. taster at the Lost Abbey/ Brewing tasting room.
Opaque, near black with a brown head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of roasted coffee, mocha, chocolate milk, bourbon, tobacco, roasted malt, vanilla and oak.
Taste of dark chocolate, bourbon, licorice, roasted malt, vanilla, oak, alcohol, roasted coffee and heaven on earth.
Full/medium body and medium/low carbonization with a glorious mouthfeel.
At 13.5%, it's hard to hind the alcohol. Other than that one blemish, this is a fabulous beer.

Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Very barrel intense, a bit dusty. Also pitch black. Some vanille. Soft carbonation, giving room for even more barrel. Thick and heavy, but not as much as the ABV would say.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2016 practically black colour, 1 inch creamy brown head; aroma of intensive herbal and cocoa notes, coffee some smoke and whisky; taste is the same with the dominance of syrupy, herbal and smoke notes; great imperial stout, though not that perfect I expected

Black pour with a thin strip of head. Left some lacing. Draft at South Park Abbey. Lots of stouts on draft here. Aromas of barrel and bourbon. Flavors were the same. Yummy stuff.

bottle from kihoskh.
pours pitch black with a dark brown head. looks very very good
strong aroma of roasted malts, coca and coffee,.
flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, very velvety and smooth, also notes of bourbon. alc burn, but not at all brutal as you’d expect at 13.5% fainter notes of raisins too. i think i can taste the lost abbey house flavor in this one, sort of faint belgian yeasty kind of note to it, but in any case a good tasting imp. stout with complexity and power combined.

Thnx to Philus! Pours intensely black, with a nicely sized , grey head. Yes, this is a dark beer ! Smell is Heavy, roasted malts, mild bitterness, and hidden booze. Taste is full, sharp roasted malts, bitter, tones of coffee and dark chocolate. Very heavy, a lot of booze. Nice
