COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Another epic blend of beers not widely seen out side our tasting bar. The base for Track #4 starts off as two freshly emptied barrels which were to be part of our Veritas 009 blend. To these barrels we have married two French Oak red wine barrels that have been harboring Hot Rocks Lager for nearly two years. The base beer sports a deep black color with crimson highlights. Flavors of leather, tobacco and a wine like jammy quality were developed as the base beer. The addition of Hot Rocks Lager aged in Wine barrels brings a strain of Brettanomyces not normally found in our beers (wine strain we found in the barrels as we did not inoculate them here at the brewery). As is our hope for all these blends, the sum of all the parts has yielded great results. Perhaps one of the more subtle yet harmonious blends to date for our brewers, this one promises to deliver another great Lost Abbey experience.

Pours a black shade with thin head, and light lacing. Aromas of cookie dough, fudge, currants, light vinegar, light peat wood, roasted almond, and light vinegar. Taste is most of the same. Finishes dry and slightly boozey. So rich and flavorful, wish I could have aged this beer or made sure it was super warm.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown ruby hue with no head. The aroma is cocoa, dark fruits, and oak. Thin mouthfeel with sweet bourbon, cocoa, dark fruit. Odd flavor, decent.

Bottle @ Theis. Pours unclear red/brown with virtually no head. Aroma is quite intense with vinegar, red wine, brett, krauterblut ,oak and booze. Taste is near heavy sweet, light bitter and tart. Body is medium+, texture is thick oily, carbonation is soft. Finish is very long and very sweet with intense fruit, wine and booze.

Bottle @ The HUGE Tasting. The pour’s deep amber with a small head. The nose is chocolate-covered peanuts. Roasted nuts. Some brett, wood. The taste is ashy, red fruits. Buggy funk. Red berry tang. Mild chocolate on the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Decent.

Mega Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light with fine carbonation. Bitterish dark chocolate. Wood. Light Flemish red sourness. Bitterish and somewhat salty brett. Finishes semi dry and bitter. Doesn’t fully come together for me but it’s tasty enough.

Scopey (6136) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2014
Bottle, generously shared by Kenny at the BIG Friday tasting. It pours near black with a medium beige head. The nose is toast, roasty, meatiness, liquorice and some tangy dark fruits. The taste is tangy fruits, berry, jam, toast, roasted malt, cardboard, vinous, balsamic vinegar and some bitterness. Medium body and fine - moderate carbonation. Unfortunately no great depth to it. Decent, but one of the poorest of the box set.

Bottle shared at the BIG Friday tasting, massive thanks to our Ken for sharing the entire track set and also to Bruce for providing the accompanying music 03/01/14. Obscured mahogony brown with thin beige bubbles that clear to edgework. Nose is tarte dark berry fruits, brown sugar, earthy cocoa powder, dark toffee fudge, stewed plums, tangy soured berries, dank woody notes, cobwebs, barnyard, funk. Taste comprises dried prunes, tartened red grape skins, musty, dank wood, toffee, light dirt, earthy. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry tarte closure. Ok Flemish red.

Bottle shared during the Track Set interval of the Brokeback Revisited tasting in London. Cheers Kenny! Pours clear dark brown with a bubbly and sticky tan head. Nose is milk chocolate and funk, plenty of brown sugar and raisin sweetness with a balanced kick of roast. SAome bright aniseed behind it all. Taste is quite vinegary and balsamic forward, big liquorice and a hint of cane sugar. Sweet and sour feel to it. Heat on the finish. Just ok

Bottle shared during the Track Set portion of the jackl is backl tasting in London. Paired with the intended song! Big thanks to Ken. Pours clear, deep brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma holds mild char, tangy dark berries, a bit of wood. Medium sweet flavor, a little meaty, with light roast, milk chocolate, raisins, dirt. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish with earth, chocolate, dried and leathery fruits, charred wood. Nice beer.
