I admire and respect this beer for it’s lambic-esque aroma, rich fruitiness, and daring carbonation. I wonder why the fuck I am still drinking it when it hits my esophagus with a rush of acetic acid so painful that I could gag. It’s good, but it is sour as a mofo.

October 15, 2016. Bottle.
Hazy reddish with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is vinegar, lemon, grapes, cherries, oak and light earthy. Taste is sour, acetic, light fruity. Finish is very sour and acetic with vinegar, lemon, grape skins and lemon. Light to medium bodied, dry, average carbonation.
Way too much acetic acid.

Bottle bought through Drikkeriget. Pours hazy red with a small pinkish white head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and acetic with crackers, lemon juice, raspberries, hay,dry soil, vinegar, leather and lemon zest. Taste is extremely sour, fruity and tiny funky. Mouthfeel is dry, heavy tart, heavy mouth-puckering, throat-burning acetic and light to medium bodied. Finish is Heavy sour with lemon, raspberries, sour cherries, vinegar, hay, dry soil and lemon zest. I’m sure there’s a great beer here somewhere. It’s just hidden by the extreme acidity.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, wood, citrus and dark berry aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & tart flavor with a medium to heavy tart & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

12.7 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99. Pours a hazy caramel color with a small off white head that disappeared. The aroma and flavor have big tart fruit character, cherries, raspberries, oak, orange zest, acidic, I said tart earlier but this is mouth puckering sour on the flavor in a good way, caramel sweetness underneath, very good.

Bottle shared by Adam, thanks! Pours a deep red with an off-white head that starts at the edges and remains. Aroma is full of sour cherry and raspberries with a good amount of acid with a bit of oak. Flavor is raspberry forward with a sour cherry bite, some acid and some oak.

375ml bottle acquired via trade on BA. Shared with deyholla. Pours a deeper red wine hue, rose with decent haziness, a copper red wine glow throughout is a bit dulled, mellow ringer laces small overall. Aromas are tart and spritzy, seedy raspberries, tart cherries and a bit of orange zest. Decent red wine oak and tannic appeal, vanillin and some lactic appeal, mellow funk. Lots of fruit remain here on the nose with that bitter pithy rind still hanging on, a bit bitter and zesty. Some firmer lactic appeal, seedy raspberries and red wine appeal. Initial is a bit flatter than expected but a nice sour potent appeal hits in a slow growing appeal and grows quickly. Raspberries, the cherries seem to temper the experience. A bit pitty and earthy, gentle sweetness without the more potent acidity of other blends. A gentle nuttiness, faint toast and mellow oak presence. The red wine tapers a bit more with fuzzy lactic and sour appeal overall. Some acidity broods into the backend with rannic barrel, red wine, some gentle spiciness, toast, subtle cinnamon and lingering acidity. A bit of yogurt, funk, cobwebs, and acidity tapering off. This really works well, more reigned in than some of the earlier blends with the all doing nose, pretty pour, delicious flavors and good flow to boot. Acidity a bit more in check here but still potent as Lost Abbey goes. Still, I really enjoyed this.

Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish hazel, medium creamy pinkish tan head, long lasting and laces well. TONS of yeast residue in the bottom of the bottle; Brian would have loved that. Aroma is raspberry, funky horseblanket and musty basement, stems and seeds, perhaps some tart cherry, oak tannins, hints of acetone. Flavor is quite tart, but not mind blowingly (e.g. Upland), very funky, oaky and whole unadulterated raspberries. Funk almost borders on mushroom (not a good thing), but holds itself just shy of that unholy threshold. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not in the class of say LPF, but a solid raspberry sorry. I feel sorry for Homer, his bottle was obviously not well cared for.
