COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

Bottle at LA. Clear medium dark red and a one finger beige head, low retention. Big bourbon cinnamon vanilla nose. Dark fruits and sweet caramel toffee also present. Flavor follows, not super sweet, actually. Lots of bourbon, some chili heat does rise in the back of the throat. Dry finish, bitterness at a 2. Alcohol heat let’s you know it’s strong. Full body, low carbonation. Very very tasty. 8-4-9-4-17

Bottle. Pours deep amber with a beige head. Faint roasted malts, some chocolate and caramel malty sweetness, light spicy notes, coconut?, and some faint boozy notes. Pretty good.

A quickly fading beige head fades over the dull dark brown pour. Fruity and spicy, heady nose. Rich and supremely sweet offering reminiscent of the nutmeg and cinnamon raisin French Toast I had for breakfast, but add a melted chocolate and chili bar in there. Oatmealy texture, chewy and cakey. It does not burn the palate from the get go, but quickly warms you up and that alcohol pairs with the chilies. Minty, coconut and vanilla hints contribute more than a little credibility to the statement that this is one complex beast, but the heat is a bit annoying and the Judgment Day’s usual inviting fruitiness is lost in there. One thing is for sure, in spite of its sojourn in a bourbon barrel, it has not lost much body. Ironically, this is one beer that you would tend to want to roll over your tongue to explore its multi-faceted flavors, but the burn makes you swallow promptly and you end up drinking it faster than you’d have thought. Guess they call that drinkability. In the end, there are too many ideas thrown into that bottle for it to create an ensemble you would want to visit frequently.

Pours thick dark raisin amber with a sandy colored head. Phenomenal aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar, and sweet perfumey booze. Flavor brings sweet brown sugar and the impression of rum and dark fruit from the sweet raisins. So smooth for the 13.7 ABV!

Bottle: Deep, deep brown; appears nearly black in the glass with a ruby glaze to it. Sizable, foamy tan head slowly settles to a chunky film & ring. Aroma has big notes of creamy milk chocolate, whiskey, woody vanilla, & a lovely, sweet cinnamon candy spice. Hints of dark fruit & roast as well. I can definitely see the "oatmeal cookie" vibe in the aroma. Lots of barrel presence on the palate. Big time whiskey soaked wooden staves, warming the throat & lightly tannic on the tongue. Raisin is more dominant with a huge, malty underbody. Dark cacao, roast, faint vanilla, star anise, & bourbon. Cinnamon is not as present, but can be found if you try hard enough. Some chili warmth in the aftertaste is noticeable & compounds with the heft & booziness of the beer to spark a huge warming sensation all the way down to your belly. Possibly a little over carbonated, a little prickly & tannic at times, but not a huge hinderance. Overall, a pretty nice beer with lots going on. Definitely feeling the warmth of this one.

Deep red with a spoiled raisin and plum body. Deep red fruits marry with a natural yeast flavor. Sweet and unique.

Bottle. Cherry brown. Aroma is chocolate covered bourbon soaked raisins. The taste brings out some cherry and cinnamon notes. The carb is a little too high for my taste but it doesn't detract from the flavor. Very complex and interesting. Great brew ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Pours hazy, mahogany with medium sized beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, wood, bourbon, spices and over ripe fruits. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with some chili notes and alcohol. Full bodied, syrup texture and flat carbonation. A very nice an complex Quad.

Bottle from a secret spot and pretty expensive considering the size but whatever. Definite plum and raisin aroma with a touch of pepper spice. Sticky sweet and lots of dark fruit flavors. Hot pepper burn on the back end of the palate. Not getting too much cinnamon. Vanilla and wood are there though from the barrel. A pretty good drink. Very complex very diverse and all working together pretty well.

16.9 oz. cc bottle that I was amazed to find at Whole Foods Plymouth. Poured turbid chestnut, looking deep brown through direct light, with 2-finger khaki head. Nose is prunes, raisins, brown sugar, heavy bourbon, oak, and bready malt. Tastes complex, with notes of oaky bourbon, raisins, cinnamon, brown sugar, berries, figs, and spirits. Finishes complex, with more fruity tartness.
