COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

Bottle at LA. Clear medium dark red and a one finger beige head, low retention. Big bourbon cinnamon vanilla nose. Dark fruits and sweet caramel toffee also present. Flavor follows, not super sweet, actually. Lots of bourbon, some chili heat does rise in the back of the throat. Dry finish, bitterness at a 2. Alcohol heat let’s you know it’s strong. Full body, low carbonation. Very very tasty. 8-4-9-4-17

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a small, frothy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, sweet toffee and caramel malt, dates, figs and prunes with nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor is sweet malt, nutmeg and cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla and bourbon, light oak notes and a sweet finish. Full body and light carbonation.

At a tasting, thanks DSG, bubbly light brown head, opaque extremely dark brown color, aroma of coconut, vanila and wood, with a hint of dark fruit, and some light spiciness coming through, flavor of coconut and bourbon with some chillie spiciness, dark bitter chocolate and apricot jam, very sweet but not cloying. The bourbon character is much too strong at start but allows other traits to come through in time, still a bit too one dimensional though quite enjoyable.

(Bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Dec 15 2014) Pours a deep brown with basically no head. Aroma has dark malt, caramel, raisins, dark fruit, vanilla/oak, cinnamon, moderate bourbon. On the palate, rich dark malts bring caramel, stewed dark fruit, a hint of chocolate. Raisins quite prominent, a decent helping of vanilla and bourbon in the middle with cinnamon. Malt sweetness lingering in the finish and the chilies build up to a pleasant, moderate spice, level, cinnamon and a touch of bourbon. Medium-full body, lightly creamy with no carb. Gorgeous, I really like the integration of cinnamon and chili and the bourbon barrel is held to a supporting role. Way too drinkable for the ABV, interesting and yet has no rough edges.

Bottle. An unclear, brown beer, flat and headless. Rather oily pour. The aroma is spiced and raisiny, making me think of christmas. Some boozy, oaked notes too. Chocolate and coffee. It’s full-bodied and warming, with a very soft carbonation level. Chocolate, raisins, bourbon-ish booze and some spices in the flavor. A faint touch of chili towards the finish. Coconut towards the very end, kept company by chocolate and raisins. Some spices too. A bit messy this one, but it’s still a very nice one. 141220

37.5 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep brown with no lasting head. Aroma is caramelish and slight spiced, overripe fruity. Toasted malty, spiced, nutmeg and caramelish. Spiced and nutmeg. Dry and herbal finish.

Bottle from Capone’s and pricey. Some bubbles rather than a head on a dark body. A mild raison aroma. Raison is significant on taste, overpowering the chile in the home stretch. Dangerously drinkable but not for everybody.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Dark brown color, almost black, with a bit of light brown foam. Big aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, dark chocolate, caramel and some nuts. Sweet flavor with malt, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, oak, caramel, dark fruits and a slightly spicy finish with a bit of alcohol. Nice full and rounded mouthfeel. Very good.

On tap at fobab. One of my favorites from the night. Pours a medium brown without much head. Aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, bourbon, slight pepper. Taste was bourbon sweetness with a slightly spicy finish to it. Medium body. Medium low carb.
