At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

Bottle at LA. Clear medium dark red and a one finger beige head, low retention. Big bourbon cinnamon vanilla nose. Dark fruits and sweet caramel toffee also present. Flavor follows, not super sweet, actually. Lots of bourbon, some chili heat does rise in the back of the throat. Dry finish, bitterness at a 2. Alcohol heat let’s you know it’s strong. Full body, low carbonation. Very very tasty. 8-4-9-4-17

Bottle: Poured a black color with a tan head. Aroma is cherry with booze, and spice. Taste was super hot with cinnamon, spice, fruit, and heat in the finish.

Bottled. Poured deeper iced tea brown with a splotchy beige head. The aroma picked up cinnamon, raisins, figs, and black pepper upfront, with more cinnamon and smoked chiles following.. warmth was apparent, but it never got in the way. The flavor opened with spicy cinnamon and smoked chiles, with raisins, molasses, and figs following.. the spices held well throughout, leaving nice cinnamon around and some belly warmth from the smoky peppers.. lots going on, but it was very well balanced. Heavier-bodied and very tasty.. loved it!

Dark brown minimal head. Nose is like a wine cellar, musty barrel, raisin, booze, cinnamon. Taste is interesting. Definitely barrel, must, raisin and dark fruits, a bit of cinnamon, a spicy pepper note on the very finish, also boozy but not insane. It's complex, I just don't love it.

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with fizzy spotty off white head. Aroma is dark fruits, caramel, slight booze, slight spiciness. Taste is magnificent, almost like a hint of vanilla cake to go with the raisins and caramel. Hint of spiciness. Booze. Flavors flow together nicely.

Very fine stuff. Aroma of florals, molasses, raisin, light oak some citrus and leather and a touch of booze. Pours black with good head and lacing. Texture thick and oily. Some syrupy consistency but not overdone. A touch of tang on finish as well. Bottle.

375ml bottle enjoyed @ home. Pours deep brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is cinnamon, caramel, raisins, plums, chilies, christmas cake, belgian candi sugar and bourbon is hardly present. Flavour is sweet but not overly sweet. Full bodied, smooth texture, soft carbonation. Finish is fluid christmas cake with a hint of bourbon. Well-balanced!

Draft at Ale Arsenal. Black with a small light khaki head. Nice spicy aroma, a little chile and cinnamon. Roasty chocolate flavor with big cinnamon, chile, and anise, dark fruit and bourbon. Fairly full mouthfeel with smooth palate.
