At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a near clear deep amber with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of cinnamon and chillies with some backing sweet grains and bourbon. Flavor is again heavily spiced with some raisins and sweet grains backed by bourbon. Spice became overwhelming.

Mycket gott!

375ml bottle in a taster. Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma of bourbon, some dark fruits and raisins, dark malts, some light chiles, cinnamon and other spices, and some light vanilla. Flavor the same with a very nice blend. Smoother texture. A really cool beer.

Another headless pour, yet this one is clear, oddly enough. Ruby-amber with no bubbles in suspension.
Initially candied cinnamon and light raisins fill the nose with a touch of black pepper. With warming tons of coconut notes emerge to the point of dominance. Still, there is certainly that oatmeal cookie thing going on, as again, like track 10, no alcohol is perceptble.
Heavy, heavy barrel tannin, not so much astringent as it is coconuty. Cinnamon certainly apparent with the chili sitting mildly in the background. Just too much raw barrel and too low carbonation mixed with a somewhat thin texture. Alcohol sneaks up on you. Yes, these are meant to be sippers but they still need a richer, more comforting texture. Or do they? Maybe these are just meant to drink like scotch? I dont know, not what im looking for in a beer.

375, corked and baled. Pours a jet black with a dense and creamy burnt tan head that fades quickly away. Big sweet nose, tons of raisins, followed by apricots and cinnamon. Creamy, somewhat thin body with some lively carb. Hot attack, a little boozy, showing raisins, cinnamon, apricots, and vanilla. Very sweet. Body is a bit thin, booze shows hot, and flavor leans to the sweet,
