At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a near clear deep amber with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of cinnamon and chillies with some backing sweet grains and bourbon. Flavor is again heavily spiced with some raisins and sweet grains backed by bourbon. Spice became overwhelming.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Tan head with excellent retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Dark pit fruit and vanilla aromas. Medium bodied with sweet dark pit fruit and cinnamon upfront turning to mild chile before the hot, lasting vanilla finish.

Bottle thanks to Mike. Pours a flat murky brown to black with reddish highlights. Does LA carbonate their beers anymore? Nose is strong cinnamon, some dark dried fruitiness, as well as a light vegetal note. Taste is immediately oatmeal, raisin, with a light vanilla note. Some subtle spiciness and a light bourbon note. man, some carbonation might jut make this an excellent beer. Alcohol is very well hidden underneath the spiciness and booze. This is really nice.

Sample at GABF 2014. Comes dark brown with a decent tan head. Aroma of bourbon, fruit, and spice. Taste is raisin, fruit, bourbon, spice, and caramel. Complex and interesting. Very good.

dark brown colour, minimal beige head; aroma of whisky, slight vanilla, herbal notes and intensive alcohol; taste of intensive malty sweetness first, raisin, herbs, and some vanilla; alcoholic warmth and hot chilli aftertaste; really great quadrupel, but a bit ’too much’...

08.10.2014, 0,375l bottle sampled @ BBGTC tasting:
Small light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is a very strange - in a good way, and a very interesting mix of almost too many things, coconut, mild bourbon, caramel, chocolate, soy sauce, grassy chili, dark sugar, fish sauce, cinnamon, apple pie, alcohol, vanilla. Taste is slightly dry, dark malts, grass, oak, coconut, coffee, cocoa, mild bourbon, cinnamon, mild grassy chili, caramel, dark sugar. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice one!

0.375l corked bottle from Bierkoning, shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a deep and dark brown cloudy looking one whit a small kinda shattered islandy and sidesticking beige head. Smells quite nice. It’s definitely spiced up with wood, cinahnom, coconut, wood, green apples, Apple pie crust, sugar and hints of vanilla. There’s definitely lots of things going on here, but I really kinda like it. A mighty and powerful sweet on this one. The cinahnom shines through the sweet boozy caramel sugary flavors. Not super chewy but still rather oily and thick in the mouth, soft to average on the bubbles. Fruity sticky sweet and warming. It’s actually leaving a really mild spicy peppery sting all the way back in the throat. Mild but present. There’s lots of different things going on here. The abv is, I guess, kinda well hidden, cause I would never have guessed this as a near 14 percent beer. Interesting and really different. 08.10.2014

Bottle - Lots of boozy bourbon, vanilla and dark roast. Jet brown with a beige head. Toasted coconut, barrel notes, light bourbon and rich malts. Cinnamon and spice are there but more at the end. Much less a bourbon booze than in the nose.

Pours black with a light brown head. Nose of molasses, vanilla, bourbon, caramel and cinnamon. Lovely! Taste is rich with cinnamon, raison, plum, caramel and molasses. Mouthfeel is medium to thick and mouth-coating with chili bite. very complex and impressive brew. Wish I had more.

Bottle @ Lost Abbey. Just about black in color with a khaki head. Really nice combination of bourbon, cinnamon sugar, and vinous, dark fruits. A big time chocolate and vanilla character, too. Caramel, slight booze, and a touch of coconut. Flavor is a bit like french toast at first. Nice spice nose and plenty of sweet caramel. Some bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. Lots of cherry, raisin, and plum. A bit of oak and sort of boozy.
