COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At a Glance The Beer: A fresh track, Track 8 is a spicy monster — A base of Judgment Day aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels then spiked with liberal additions of cinnamon stick and dried chili pepper. ABV: 13.7% Released: August 18, 2012 Liner Notes We’ve never released a Bourbon Barrel version of our Judgment Day. So we thought it might be interesting to take the base beer for Cuvee de Tomme age in first fill Bourbon Barrels and let mother nature take over. Of course, because this is a Rock and Roll inspired Box Set beer, we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Upon sampling the base beer, it became apparent that the raisins used to brew the base beer were going to drive the flavor bus of this beer. The conversations turned to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and the essence of a freshly baked treat. So we added some cinnamon sticks to the barrels and threw in some dried chiles as well. At 13.70 ABV this beer has amazing depth of flavor and presents a unique drinking experience for consumers who may be seeking enlightenment on Judgment Day.

Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a near clear deep amber with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of cinnamon and chillies with some backing sweet grains and bourbon. Flavor is again heavily spiced with some raisins and sweet grains backed by bourbon. Spice became overwhelming.

Nose is oatmeal raisin cookie, vanilla, sticky toffee pudding. Flavor is same plus milk chocolate, moderate barrel presence, some heat from the chilies. All flavors present are balanced really nicely.

Black pour from draft with white head. This puppy is intense and awesome. Sweet cookie batter, cinnamon, butter, cocoa, vanilla and oatmeal flavors. So much flavor, so little time. Fantastic beer

Wonderful on the tongue this is the bottle you should let age after a while. Pours a tan head that dissipates over time.

Bottle. Pours out a muddy brown color with a small off white head. Aroma is of dried fruits, sweet sugary syrup, some alcohol and light earthy pepper; no real tell of spice on the aroma. Taste is complex, dried dark fruits, syrup, cinnamon sugar, oak, booze, light pepper. Overall abv was every well hidden.

Amazing that I didn?t know what was being served and the first thing I said was how much raisin flavor there is. Sweet sugary smell deep ripe almost spoiled fruit scent. Slight heat from chili but not very harsh. Light spices for cinnamon, but very good all around. Bourbon is done correctly. Not overt the top, just a nice touch. Bottle

BlackHaddock (4863) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2015
Cork and caged 12,7oz bottle poured into a Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip on 15th May 2015. Ruby hints around the edges of this dark forbidding brew, on top a huge tanned foam blanket. The aroma is rum soaked raisins covered in milk chocolate. The taste has chillies to give a bite to the chocolate raisins and rum from the nose. Rich, smooth yet the chillies add an extra dimension along with the cinnamon sticks which gave another twist to the tail of the brew. Appealed to my sweet tooth and love of hot, spicy food: a very interesting and different beer, glad I bit the bullet and paid the extra dosh for a truly world class beer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a fizzy creme colored head. Strong aroma of raisin over medium carbonation. Raisin, coconut with a touch of spice that provides some heat. A bit thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
