3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Brouwer’s, shared by beastie. Pours clear pale with white head. Bottle pops but doesn’t gush or remain flat (victory in itself). Aroma: not as rad as Avery 15. Old for sure, stale hops and rotting overripe fruit / prunes, but also not completely gross. Some tropical, some caramel. Seems to have held up well.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2014-08-16. Hazy pale orange body with a small white head. 3+ Aroma is sweet with light fruity character, pale malt and light caramel accents. Flavour is lightly fruity over moderate sweet malt base, light yeast. Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Enjoyable but slightly muddled and I suspect simpler than when it was fresh. 3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Brouwer’s Cafe! 10 karat pour with a fluffy white cotton head that left significant rings in the glass after every sip. Nose is fruity, earthy, and only mildly funky with a hint of pepper. Flavor shows loads of grape, honey, caramel, toffee, and spice. Definitely not the saison it was born to be but not offensive in any way. Would have expected something different from the Brett but this was still a treat.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Sour milk and musty feet aromas. Mild citrus, hay, and brett notes. Below average mouthfeel and body. I think this bad boy is past the point of no return...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by GRG1313 at our sour and wild ales tasting on April 14, 2012. Thanks Richard.
The beer is yellow and fairly hazy with a small white head. The aroma is enticing, with scents of funk, citrus, oak, and light spice. A very tasty beer. A touch of sweetness is balanced by a subtle tartness in the finish. Light to medium in body. A very interesting beer. It’s always fun to sample rare and retired beers like these.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Found on the shelves at Bottleworks. Pours a nice clear yellow and very lively. three fingers head that sticks around. Smell is sweet hay and fruity funk. More sweet than sour. Taste is funky, barnyard up front, falls into fruity middle and a dry, chalky finish. Good and refreshing. It’s a pretty good saison, but not sure I would want it again. It’s actually pretty impressive how unremarkable it is.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Funky yeasty aroma with some light fruity sweetness. The flavor has light funky yeast and fruity/honey sweetness, as well as a little bit of oxidation. seemed a bit past its prime.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear yellow with a tad of orange. Mild yeasty aroma. Mildly bitter initial impressions. An easy drink. Quite unexpectedly beery. Perhaps some farm in there. Maybe a little oxidation, even tho it comes across rather refined. Mild to medium bite on the finish. Big thanks to Kevin for bringing this rare brew!
