2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured into a snifter. Big thanks to psiweaver for this.
3.5 A: Hazed dark orange color. Two fingers of pillowy white head with average retention and nonuniform, scattered lacing.
3.5 S: First impression is that there is a fairly strong herbalness in this along with a touch of floweriness. Despite being about three years old, the brett is only mild and offers a damp basement aroma. Light peppery spiciness with a touch of peach and banana fruitiness.
3.0 T: Like the nose - herbal with a soft dank basement type funk. Very little fruitiness that comes in peach and wild apple. None of the flavors stand out. It’s not exactly boring, but it is quite tame.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good level of carbonation, but it isn’t as spritzy as I’d like. Could be creamier. Smooth.
3.0 D: A straightforward saison. Not bad, but not exciting either. Average or close to average all around.

Pouring at the grand tasting at RBSG in Philly, courtesy of Andy. Pours a hazed gold with a thin white head. Lightly funky musk, yeast. Toasty malt and wheat. Very sweet caramel, a touch of oxidization, musky and sweet. Finishes with a bit of a milk duds note.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
dirty gold, thin white head. Nose of breadcrust, egg and shell, too sweet for it’s own good but a nice, balanced, LA-esque saison. Flavor is more egg, cream, light yeast, pepper. Meh, lightly carbonated and lightly spiced.

Bottle shared by puzzl at rbsg 2011. thanks andy! Pours a super hazy orange. This beer seemed to have gone bad. heavily grainy, vegetal matter, and weird yeastiness. not digging this and don’t detect any brett at all. Tears flow.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
750mL at RBSG 2011 in Philly thanks to puzzl. The pour is a glowing blonde with a massive, bright, white head. Nose is sweet and doughy with buttery biscuit and cracker. Taste is lemon, biscuit, heavy husky cereal grain. Mildly tart. Definitely not funky or Bretty. Maybe a dud bottle with no Brett infection taking hold, which has happened a few times on Lost Abbey bottles. Still decent but not was intended probably.
