Oakes (6779), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 Preview bottle, Brouwer’s, March ’08 Milky sediment on this. Blonde, with a thick head. Yeasty, slightly floral, and slightly mushroomy. Spritzy, still milky-looking at this point, lending a nice sugary sweet malt character, reminiscent of the way the yeast does this to a nigori. Light floral, peppery notes. Finishes dry and assertively yeast. Cooool - this’ll be a fun one.
WeeHeavySD (1511), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA May 20, 2008 Tasted this a few months ago from a bottle pre shipment at LA, it was pretty tasty, pretty bretty and overall I like it much more than Carnival. I hope to have it again. SuzyGreenberg (781), Seattle, Washington, USA May 16, 2008 draft @ brouwer’s sour fest - dark, cloudy orange with white head fading to the edges; texture on the light side with lots of cream in the body; rich flavors of yeast and grain; perfectly smooth and no sourness or much effect from the brett; rich flavors of banana, citrus and slight spice; very rich and chewy; overall, this blew me away and as my second of the night, pretty much wrecked my pallet for the remainder of the evening; drinks soft and smooth, and basically my kind of beer; can’t wait to see this again at brouwer’s in the not to distant future; cheers to lost abbey for a total knockout after4ever (1630), Brier, Washington, USA May 10, 2008 Draft at Brouwers Sourfest. Cloudy toffeeish medium amber. Thin grayish head. Modest lace. Mild nose of dry grassy funk. Medium body, softly creamy. Spice, hay, lemon on the mid-palate. Light funky finish.
