COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ve made it to 547 Haight Street. This destination is more San Francisco than Rice A Roni, Chinatown, and Lombard Street combined. Welcome to Broadway for brewers everywhere. Everyone who is anyone has poured their kegs here. For the last 20 years, this place has launched careers, confirmed legacies, and since 1987 the only name you need to know is David Keene. Take a seat. Tip Strong. Nod appreciatively and don’t ask stupid questions. Welcome to Big Daddy’s House known to most simply as "The T-Room." Here the bartenders are fluent in English, German, Flemish, French, Waloon and Czech. But they’re most known for their American Lip Service. Watch it. The lady with the jet black hair behind the bar eats idiots for lunch. At 547 Haight Street, you won’t find any Cable Cars except for this one. But if you’re standing outside the Dutch Doors of the World Famous Toranado, you surely found the most interesting place in all San Francisco. Its’ about RESPECT. Dave you continue to have ours. Here’s to 20 more years of punishing livers everywhere. Cheers Gina, Jim, Tomme, Vince and the Brewers of Port Brewing

Bottle at MesandSim’s tasting Aug 09. Thanks to MadMitch for this, cheers Ken, this was on my must have list. Unattractive thick gold cloudy beer. Lacks a bit of farmyard funk on the aroma which I want from my sour ales. Some funk and lemon, but more muted than Belgian lambics. Very sour finish. Smooth lemon. Very drinkable, good funky lemon and good flavour in the mouth. I suppose a bit unfair to compare an American sour with Belgian lambics, but this doesn’t stand up against lambics. That funk just isn’t there. We had a Girardin black label gueuze earlier in the day and then a J&J Blauw afterwards and the aroma of those 2 just blows virtually all American sours away. Russian River beers are just about the only ones that even get close.

Holzig-säuerlicher Beginn. Fruchtig, leicht nach Kirsche, rund. Die meisten Aromen verschwinden recht schnell wieder, die Säure wird milder, breitet sich dafür aber gut im Mund aus. Mild aber gut. 8/10/12/10/12/11

Bottle at Bruce’s 30th celebrations, 08/02/13, big thanks to the birthday boy for sharing this one ! Hazed mid amber with a thin off white head that clears edgeward. Nose is sour tarte berries, wood, lemon, light vinegar notes, musty funky tones, sugars, burnt notes. Taste follows - lemon, citrus, sour apples, grandads shed, old beano’s, grape, light vinegar, wood. Medium in body with moderate carbonation lending towards a tarte and puckering finish. Great stuff!

2007 Vintage A: The pour is a very hazy golden yellow color without much head and very little retention. S: The nose is full of lactic tartness with a mild mustiness and a pleasant barnyard funk. The sourness is primarily in the form of lemon and green apples. T: The flavor is highly sour with plenty of lemony lactic acid and a touch of vinegar. The funk is much more subdued than the nose would lead you to believe. M: The body is light to medium with a full carbonation and a nice dry finish. D: This particular bottle was the best of the Cable Car pours that I’ve had. A solid sourness and nice fruit character, but a little lacking in the "funk" department.

Hazy yellow-beige. Lightly cheesy nose with light fruit and a hint of yoghurt. Tastes like a new pair of Adidas, lots of tartness on the tongue, a splash of yeasty character and a little bit of fruitiness. Good balance - it’s a nice beer but it’s no Proximus.

Bottle @ 14.000th Tasting. Thanks to Hallinghansen (Tha Man) for sharing. Pours cloudy deep golden with a white head. Fruit, funk, peach, manuer and mild almond. Nose is a tad better - really deep and complex. Georgeous stuff!

2013 Vintage. Bottle at Toronado, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out complex oak barrels, some funkiness, and dried light fruits (subtle apricots). Flavour is very complex, with oak barrels, a mixture of dry light fruits, and low-to-medium tartness. Very elegant, with all flavours working harmoniously. Finishes on slightly vinegary notes, as well as light fruits and oak. Definitely overrated, but certainly a delicious beer.

bhensonb (13982) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 7, 2009
Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours orange gold with a small white, very effervescent head. Aroma is mildly acidic and sour in a fruit sort of way. Medium body with prickly carbonation. Flavor is sour and tart. Sort of cooking cherry, but more persimmon. Quite woody. Finishes smooth. And more than a bit tannic.

Benzai (13632) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - NOV 22, 2014
Bottle [2007 vintage, first bottling] shared @ tasting. Hazy orange pink color, small off-white head. Aroma is a little faint but there’s a nice subtle fruity touch there with a slightly sharp fruitpeel sour-bitter bite. Tastes like that as well, a little touch of sour-bitter in the beginning but a very smooth subtle fruity sourness underneath. Soft, peaches, a hint of orangepeel. Nice!
