COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ve made it to 547 Haight Street. This destination is more San Francisco than Rice A Roni, Chinatown, and Lombard Street combined. Welcome to Broadway for brewers everywhere. Everyone who is anyone has poured their kegs here. For the last 20 years, this place has launched careers, confirmed legacies, and since 1987 the only name you need to know is David Keene. Take a seat. Tip Strong. Nod appreciatively and don’t ask stupid questions. Welcome to Big Daddy’s House known to most simply as "The T-Room." Here the bartenders are fluent in English, German, Flemish, French, Waloon and Czech. But they’re most known for their American Lip Service. Watch it. The lady with the jet black hair behind the bar eats idiots for lunch. At 547 Haight Street, you won’t find any Cable Cars except for this one. But if you’re standing outside the Dutch Doors of the World Famous Toranado, you surely found the most interesting place in all San Francisco. Its’ about RESPECT. Dave you continue to have ours. Ratman197 (9648) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAY 17, 2010
750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear gold with a quickly disapating white head. Aromas of straw, lemon, horseblanket, light earthines and a hint of leather. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of straw, lemon zest, earthiness, light barnyard and light leather with a crisp dry lingering tart citrus finish.

BeerandBlues2 (9585) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - FEB 23, 2011
Bottle purchased at Toronado San Diego. Pours clear gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, hay, straw, meal, cereal), light hops (earthy), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of Brettanomyces, acetic acid, wine, and horse blanket. Flavor is heavy malt (cookie, hay, straw, cereal), light hops (earthy), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of Brettanomyces, acetic acid, wine, wood, cheese, and horse blanket. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth and creaminess with a dry finish.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2010 Update: I got to taste the 2010 version at Lost Abbey and man this is a funked up release! Awesome horse blanket, barnyard. Really different this year! Bobby91 you are the man. Awfully nice to share a beer of this rarity. Damn fine. Dark gold pour wtih a white head. Vinegar up front wtih some tart apples, tropical fruit, lemon, wet earthy tones and some light funk. Flavor is sour, but the sourness does not detract from the fruitiness of this beauty. Its sour, don’t get me wrong. But the array of fruits that danced on my tongue with some soft yeasty notes provided a real drinking experience. But what would I know...I was drunk and I am not a sourhead...HAHA. I wasnt drunk when i tasted this one.

hopscotch (9037) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2008
Bottle... RBSG ‘08... This beer rocks!... Murky, straw-colored ale with little to no head. Lightly acidic, fruity nose affords notes of berries, cherries and pale grain sweetness with insinuations of toffee and butterscotch. Medium-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and restrained carbonation. The flavor is a perfect marriage of acidity and sugar; tartness and sweetness. The tartness wins out, but doesn’t rule the roost with an iron fist. A notation of cherry. The finish is tart and then dries out. Thanks go out to Tomme and all the folks at Lost Abbey who provided this beer and made us all feel like royalty!

750ml, corked and caged bottle, shared courtesy of Phatz (thanks!, I guess I owe you my next new born). Poured a medium and lightly hazy (darker haze as we got towards the bottom of the bottle) golden color with a smaller sized off white head. Upon the first whiff, I was greeted with a plethora of incredible aromas that instantly put me in that ‘special’ place in my mind! I could smell this one all day and night long. Aromas of cherries, grapes, apples, funky, brett, light yeast, citrus, and vanilla. All the aromas melded together perfectly. I was also getting a light spiciness, maybe cinnamon. Tastes of tart green apples, citrus, woody, light yeast and vanilla. Light and soft body.

GT2 (8332) - San Diego County, California, USA - MAR 22, 2010
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2011 750 mL 2007 ed batch 1. This is very different from the 2009 version, which I like much better. Batch 1 has held up very well but has become more like white wine and is more sour and full of white grapes. It is bright with citrus/lemon acidity, which shares almost no commonalities with the 2009. 6/10/2010 8/4/8/5/15=4.0

750mL 2009 ed batch 3 courtesy of ucusty. There were tons of hyped beers at our Carolina sour tasting- many of them did not live up it. But this certainly did. Pours just a beautiful glowing, hazy light orange/yellow with a thin white head that leaves some spotty lace. Aroma is simply incredible: pineapple, coconut rum, papaya, cotton candy (fairly sweet) layered atop geuze notes of leather, funk, tart apples, lemon zest. Taste is sour with lacto and pedo plus a rich array of tropical fruits and a bit of spicy alcohol. Nice sweet and sour mix. Buttery, rich palate. Light to medium bodied. Just whoa. 3/23/2010 9/4/9/5/17=4.4

750mL 2010 ed batch 4 at Toronado SD. Pours a fizzy, clear, white wine color with a diminishing, bubbly white head. Moves tyo muddy, glowing orange with the yeast. Aroma is sharp geuze funk, green apple skins, lemon, key lime, moving to some really incredible sweet complexity akin to baba rhum and marzipan. Taste is soft lactic, very easy to drink with a quick, sharp sour beginning moving to long, lactic beauty. It is almost like glorified Berliner weiss it is so soft and not slap your face sour like some geuzes. Maybe a bit too much lemon. No acedic comes forth that I find with the Veritas 007. Great cotton candy character develops at it warms. 10/10/10 9/4/8/5/16=4.2

750mL 2010 ed b4 at Toronado SF. The pour is a bright yellow with a medium, white head that leaves incredibly sticky lace. Pretty much a 5/5 for sour beer where the near zero sugar content makes it tough for lace to stick. Aroma of cotton candy, caramel, pink lemonade, sour/acetic impeding funk, fresh grapefruit, lemon, and acetic spice reminiscent of Hanssen’s Gueuze, funky white wine. Taste is incredibly soft, not truly sour as much fresh and tart. Bretty earth comes into play atop a beer that exhibits a sweet and sour play on the tongue that is hard to describe with sufficiency. Fresh caramel and sweet oranges take center stage rather than lemon or vinegar. What a perennial treat. 2/4/2011 9/5/8/5/16=4.3

2010 Bottle shared at Mikey’s tasting. Pours cloudy orange. Nose of orange zest, tart fruit and funky basement. Taste if funky tart fruit, zest, lemongrass and farmhouse yeast.

Bottle at Bruce’s 30th celebrations, 08/02/13, big thanks to the birthday boy for sharing this one ! Hazed mid amber with a thin off white head that clears edgeward. Nose is sour tarte berries, wood, lemon, light vinegar notes, musty funky tones, sugars, burnt notes. Taste follows - lemon, citrus, sour apples, grandads shed, old beano’s, grape, light vinegar, wood. Medium in body with moderate carbonation lending towards a tarte and puckering finish. Great stuff!

3fourths (7976) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 13, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2012 750ml bottle, 2008. A careful and slow pour yields a honey colored beer with barely a slight haze and little to no head, appearing in the glass as a still lambic typical will, but a small head can easily be swirled up with a few shakes. Intensely wonderful nose of eggy, resinous pinot noir grapes, overripe and souring peach pulp and lactic acid (medium to heavy). Flavor is properly prickly and sour, the acidic is mostly lactic. Begins with some pinot barrel notes, dry and tannic. Pillowy and soft on the palate at the same time as being prickly and sour, not intense, but just enough to satisfy. Rich, frothy, a wee bit slimy (thankfully not as slimy/filmy as Isabelle Proximus). Worthy of high marks.

Sample 2 yrs. old Bright yellow beer; very carbonated to medium, fine white head. Dusty, lambic-like nose, but with a just a little floormop extra Brett. Dried, preserved lemons. Lambic, lemon an toasted grain flavours, even with a touch of caramel. Flavour of unripe peaches. Retronasal sulphuric, with a hint at Islay malt. Sharpish acidburn, medium bodied. Nicely aged, I’m told. IMO, it misses just a bit of balance to be called really great. Many thanks to Evan & Matt!
