American hopped saison.

Editor’s note: The 2009+ versions are spiked with Brett at bottling. Bottles from 2009 are marked as such, although 2010 and 2011 bottles appear to not note the vintage on the label, but might be printed on the neck or base.

Pours golden amber, on the dark side for a saison. Nose is great, yeast, pepper, honey, lemon peel, maybe coriander? Taste is solid, some hops, lots of dry spiciness. A bit oily and overdry on the palate. A fine saison, not Lost Abbey’s best, but quite tasty.

75cl bottle (2015 vintage?) shared by impuritylaw @Bier mit Stil 2: Saison, Bierhandlung, merci! - Front label says 8%, importer’s label 6,5%... - Graingolden pour with quite some body to it. Slowly opens up to a nose of nectarine peel, light vanilla, cashews/white nuts, white pepper and biscuit grains. More blond, mouthfilling whole-grain biscuit grains in body and taste, very much like a less alcoholic bière de garde, sweet cereals with an almost Saaz-y bite and IKEA rough wood furniture finish. No real wildness or sours - hm. Comes very close to LA’s actual bière de garde interpretation Avant Garde, as I recall.

Tasted Carnevale way back around 2006. Hadn’t had it since and never realized they changed anything. Still not sure as I wasn’t a huge fan. It’s still ok. Just like I remember it being.

Like other people, I had an 8% abv labelled bottled. And I think it really was 8%. Hazy golden with a frothy head. Spicy, yeasty, light funk. Sweet with a light tang and sourness. Dry spicy finish. High carbonation, oily. No american hops aromas. Nothing more than an average belgian triple.

mile (3810) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 9, 2015
Bottle. Golden, hazy, average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty - lightly wheaty and lightly sweetish - sweetish aroma, light caramel and fruitiness with light citrus, light spiciness (coriander - light pepper), faint alcohol. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, light caramel and faint fruitiness, light citrus and spiciness, light hoppyness and alcohol. Finish is average, malty - lightly wheaty and lightly sweetish, light caramel and citrus, light - some spiciness and hoppyness, some alcohol. Sharply spiced saison - too much alcohol in the finish considering the body.

From a bottle. Pours hazy gold with a thick, bubbly off white head. Tastes like dried fruits, white grapes, light herb, grassy, straw, biscuit and cracker malt, and light booze. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like white grapes, dried fruit, herbs, and biscuit and cracker malt.

Bottle. Pours bright gold with frothy white head. Aroma is bready malts, lemon, spice, orange peel, floral hops, and faint tropical fruit and grassy notes.
