3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
75cl at Pikkulintu. Hazy light golden, a tad frothy pale head. Nose has belgian yeast, little brettiness, faint Orval style methol hop/brett mix, faint chalk. Flavor has plenty pale malt sweetness, slightly bretty and cellary yeast, little minty hops and sweet strawberry, faint citric acid, feels very under attenuated. Medium bodied, yeasty palate with low carbonation. I’m liking the modest nose, but it’s just not crisp nor refreshing at all, got pretty sickly after a while.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not vintaged (at least nothing left to denote this at the store and onwards), but not sure what exact beer this is, since it shows at 8,0% abv. Crystal clear light copper and bronzed coloured body with a large and rather fast-dying pure white head that leaves a pretty ugly lace on the sides. Aroma of grass, pale wheat, malt, pepper, hay, hints of hops and a some subdued fruits and sugars. Medium to Full-bodied; Dense mouthful with a good orange and curacao flavour showing some nice fruit quality coupled with a rather large alcohol presence, some malt body and a good fresh herb and very dry flavour to finish. Aftertaste shows a rather complex and dry, grassy/hay finish with more of a kick from the alcohol than anything else - a rather pungent beer for the style leaving almost a bitterness of metal and alcohol, akin to an Imperial Pils or a strong European Lager - interesting. Overall, a good beer, but a tad rough around the edges with a nice complexity that is almost overshadowed by how strong of a beer this is, especially for the style and even more so for the size of the bottle (75 cL). I sampled this 75 corked and caged bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 12-July-2015 for US$7,82 sampled at home in Washington on 27-August-2015.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Qualche spezia, e finale amaro e pepato. Buona amarezza, riscaldata dalle spezie e dalla nota funky, quasi brettara. Al palato è dolce, delicata. Carbonatazione vivace come lo stile richiede. Bello il ritorno retrolfatfivo.

On tap at the brewery. Golden color with small white head. Fresh funk, a bit sweet fruits, spicy. Taste is biscuity-doughy, a bit esthery, carbonation is medium. A very solid Saison.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle at home. Pours dark yellow to orange with a small head? Nose is spice and herb, more of a belgian triple than saison. Medium body, herbal and sweet. Taste is malty, spicy. Nice.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle purchased in California during WCBT. Consumed after San Cisco performance at Triple Rock. Snifter glass. Light golden straw color with a half finger of frothy white head. Aroma of grassy, earthy characteristics and a healthy amount of spices. Gives a bright feeling leading into the first sip. Taste has the quintessential elements of a saison with citrus, spices, and a subtle hop quality. Definite underbelly of yeast funk but offset well by the sweetness of the other flavor elements. Incredibly drinkable...one of the better saisons I’ve had in a long time. Pleasant surprise.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This cloudy yellow-straw coloured beer pours with a huge foamy head. It has a lemon, herbal and spicy fruity flavour, malty and toffee notes followed by a funky barnyard finish.
