Commercial Description:
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser. This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter's night mystery. Le Carnevale!

Thanks to the STL guys for sharing this Lost Abbey with me. Pours copper / orange with a small off-white head. The aroma is spicy and earthy with lightly toasted malt and dry-ish caramel. Medium / light body with lots of graininess and some underlying tingly carbonation. The flavor starts off lightly sweet then it dries out quickly with lots of spices (cloves, cinnamon, pepper). The graininess I like to see in saisons is here as well along with some light caramel malt. The finish is peppery along with spicy and piny hops showing. This is a very nice American version of a saison.

This is a beautiful food pairing beer, just lightens up my Halibut and Prawns. A beautiful hazy golden honey colored pour, accented by some very light and delicate lacing. Followed by a yeasty aroma of light fruits such as pears and peaches, with a light hint of sour funk, coriander and citrus. The maltiness ranges from biscuity to a bittersweet cookie dough. Zesty mouthfeel with an adamant spiciness throughout. Finishes with an herbal eucalyptus menthol quality. A lovely lip - numbing experience.

Pours a hazy light gold, small head with some very fine lacing. Wasn’t much force behind the cork when I opened it. Banana dominates the nose, with a bit sweetness and a touch of clove. Not as much yeast in the nose as I’d expect from a Saison. Little bit of a funky taste, starts off with some citrus and then finishes with a bit of pepper. Undercarbonated, and not as dry in the finish as I’d like.
