A lot less brettanomyces flavors than I was expecting. Very drinkable with a great flavor of those sour cherries and sweet belgian candy sugar. The alcohol is hidden well. An amazingly well crafted ale. Tomme Arthur is amazing.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 29, 2010 Bottle of the 2009 vintage on 01/29/2010. A dark brown color with light reddish hints. A light brown head. An intense, powerful sour cherry, cinnamon, wood, and apple aroma. Rich, full bodied, extremely sour but balanced with enough malty punch and spicy finish that settles in eventually. Long gloriously sour aftertaste. fata2683 (994), Panama City, Florida, USA

Aroma is full of horseblanket and cherries. Some burnt sugar too. Flavor is very strong brett with some light vanilla and moldy wood. Ends with a tart cherry skin and apple skin flavor. Nice and different. thirdeye11 (979), Texas, USA

Nose of bourbon, brown sugar, tart cherries, wood and olives. Taste of alcohol, tart cherries, mouth puckering sourness, unripened plum and skin, star fruit, bourbon, and extremely complex. Tart finish with tons of complexity. This is a phenomenal beer. zizzybalubba (422), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jan 16, 2010 750 mL bottle from South Bay (2009 Vintage). Muddy brown pour that appears dark brown with ruby highlights in the glass. Virtually no head. Very slight Belgian yeast aroma but mostly this is overwhelmed by very tart cherries and an acidic apple cider vinegar. Holy crap, this is sour! But on the back end is a wonderfully balanced oak character that lends almost as much to the flavor as the cherries. The alcohol is not evident in the flavor but does add a touch of warmth. One of the most complex sour beers I have ever been fortunate enough to taste and one of the best. I paid $30 for this and it was worth every penny (glad I bought 2 of them). Absolutely incredible. ricke (373), Malme, Sweden

Murky brown with a small tanned head that leaves some lacings.
The smell is complex and balanced with notes of brett, sour cherries, grass, mud and malts. A hint of vanilla in the nose as well.
The flavor is tart with pleasant cherry notes, funky brett, grass and some liqueur-like fruity notes. Lightly sweet malts and notes of wood in the foundation. The finish is dry and lightly bitter with notes of wood, cherries and just a hint of alcohol.
Medium body and well balanced carbonation.
A really good beer. Complex, interesting and tasty - what more can you ask for? boFNjackson (1382), Portland, Oregon, USA

[Lost Abbey bottle] Poured amber with a thin head. Tart, sour, yeast funk on the nose. Dry, stripping the palate greatness to it. Fermented fruit sugar notes and a nice warming tone as well with sweet malts for balancing the tartness. mkade8883 (95), Goleta, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2010 Bottle at the Toronado. Aroma of cherry, apple and malt. Flavor is at first very tart, and then the blackberry and oak come out. Glad to have tried it, though perhaps not a beer to drink regularly.
