Tap. Dark pour with a slight head that dissipated quickly. Grape, whiskey, oak, port, and sherry. Good carbonation with medium body. Alcoholic, sherry-like finish.

Damn, I wish I had purchased one or two more of these bad boys from my last trip to CA. Black pour with just a slight tan head and slight tan lacing. Big brandy and bourbon nose. Fantastic mouthfeel - not too thick, not too thin. Lots of roasted malt and just a bit of sweetness giving way to big bourbon, vanilla and brandy. Quite nice.

Wonderful beer. Wish I could get it regularly in the Midwest. Brandy aroma is amazing. Very minimal carb. Actually wine like

Part of a special "barrel" week at The Beer Junction. $4.00 for a 4oz pour, listed as 12.5% ABV. Deep, rich brown color. Sweet aroma, like maple syrup. Flavor was potent! Alcohol in your face. It was a total palate wrecker. Viscosity was thin-syrupy, low carbonation. Sweet aftertaste. There were particles of something left in the glass. Not sure if it was from the beer or the draft line. No lace left. This was part of a 4 beer sampler (all barrel aged) and I would say it came in 4th but that is because they were all pretty dang good. Definitely not bad and worth a try.

2011 vintage, 375 ml bottle into a teku glass. Pours a dark black with some faint edging. Minimal lacing with some alcohol legs. Aroma is huge on this. Bourbon and brandy notes (oak, vanilla, brown sugar, and red wine tannins) are layered over a huge spicy and sticky toffee base. Very sweet and boozy but very complex and inviting. Taste is much the same. Huge bourbon and brandy notes with a spicy and rich caramel/chocolate backbone. Complex and tasty as hell. A bit on the thin side but not at all "flat abbey". A fantastic sipper.

Draft at bistro on bridge. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. The aroma is filled with vanilla but has plenty of fruitiness from the brandy barrels. The taste has bourbon, caramel, chocolate, coffee, brandy, wow.

Sweet vanilla bourbon barrel flavors. Nice fading head. Sweet sticky on tongue. Very thick. 5 oz is plenty. Interesting smoothness.
