Color is dark, dark brown with no head. Aroma is bourbon and a little brandy. Taste is exactly the same with a little coffee and dark dried fruit and a tiny bit of hops bitterness. Fairly light bodied. This stuff is excellent.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375mL bottle. Pours a dark brown color with red undertones. A thin film of light brown head. Bourbon and vanilla aromatics with some roast malt and dark ale fruit. Stout character dominates up front, with boozy components and earthen roast malt flavors. Caramel and vanilla are present afterwards with an ashy tinge. Bourbon lingers in the finish, with a ruddy toffee flavor. Mouthfeel is heavy and hot.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Capone’s, served by Matt Capone himself! Pours a headless thick black with small bubbles lining the glass. Aroma is brandy, cigar, dark cherries, and smoked malt & wood. Flavor is same with licorice and dark chocolate. Bubbly carbonation and dry finish. Delicious, not often that I like a blend.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Immediately greeted by vanilla, bourbon, oak, wood, chocolate, cocoa nibs, spirit soaked raisins, dark fruits and plums. Black appearance with almost no foam and thin alcohol legs. Taste is really smooth with well blended notes of chocolate, cocoa nibs, slight toffee, vanilla, oak, candied caramel upfront, and then the barrels kick in right after, bringing intense wood, bourbon, subtle brandy, spirit soaked raisins, plums, more oak, sticky molasses and a well masked alcohol finish. Overall, this is really well blended and the barrels really take it to the next level. I feel the Imperial Stout side takes more of the Barley Wine flavor but, it’s absolutely perfect. A+ rating.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wow! This delicious beer knocked my socks off! Aroma was big and full. Strong vanilla, bourbon and chocolate with just a subtle hint of dark cherry. Pour was a thick viscous black with just a tan ring for a head. Taste was awesome! So many flavors going on and all of them gel perfectly. Bourbon, vanilla bean, dark chocolate and cherry. Thick mouth feel. Barely any carbonation but none is needed here. Great complexity make up for it.

This beer is fantastic. It has a wonderful sweet rich wine flavor that didn’t change whether I snacked on an apple or southwest trail mix. This beer reminds me of my favorite port wine. Yum.

This was not my cup of tea. This seemed like more bourbon than ale. Very little head.
