3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375ml bottle from bauermj. Dark brown with a hint of ruby, very faint tan head that leaves a ring around the glass. Interesting aroma - brandy, molasses, sweet malts, vanilla, slightly burnt caramel and oak; Low to non-existent carbonation but that is ok - not sure I would want this bubbly, moderate to full body, sweet and alcohol is present but not overwhelming, fruit is present - the angel’s share seems to be more prominent though.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Near black pour with no head to be found. Must be the Angel’s Share portion. Both the aroma and flavor of this are layered and complex. Nose of oak, evidence of both bourbon and brandy barrel aging, toffee, and chocolate. Flavors of dark fruit, coconut, wood, and bourbon. Improved as it warmed.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
375 ml bottle corked and caged poured into a snifter. Aroma is beautiful. Notes of raisins, dark chocolate, vanilla, and a huge complexity of oaky bourbon and brandy tones. The flavor mimics the nose with an added sweetness that compliments the amazing bourbon finish. Palate is exceptional with mild carbonation and a nice velvety texture. This is my first Lost Abbey beer that I’ve had... I’m floored this is quite possibly one of the best brews I’ve had to date. Absolutely outstanding. Well worth its hefty price tag. Cheers

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, bought @ Fish’n’Beer, Cph.
Pours completely black with a small, frothy, and light creamy beige film head. Aroma is complex, sweet, vinious, chocolate, vanilla, ginger, light roasted. Medium carbonation, fine dry and very oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sharply vinious - quite alcoholic really. Roasted, chocolate, some oak. Very unbalanced when considering the high sweetness and the extreme alcohol presence. Not my kind of thing.

Courtesy StefanSD. Dark barrel rum, figs and raisins, warm caramel sweetness. Cola colored with light carbonation. Warm tingly alcohol and lip smacking sweetness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12.7 oz corked and caged bottle. This was a runner-up for my 900th rating. Pours near opaque black with no head and a tiny beige ring of foam. Aroma is way strong in brandy, wood, vanilla, raisins, molasses, bread--powerful, almost overbearing at first but it either mellows out or I got used to it. Taste is sweet, tart, and meaty with no bitterness. Absolutely packed to the fucking brim with flavor--seriously, there’s no way they could have fit more into this little bottle. Licorice comes out pretty strong in the finish--almost Jagermeister-like in its impact on the palate. Carbonation is soft, body is obviously full, mouthfeel syrupy. This is one helluva beer. Definitely a sipper.

picking up a slight stinky feet funk that’s killing the sweetness and replacing it with a dry earthyness, light tartness, still the rich chocolate and now dry caramel, no brandy, no bourbon, no hot caramel, another one bites the dust,
Date: May 24, 2012
not so funky but a light tartness and drier, burbon ia present but without the sweetness to pull out the richness,

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Shared with Steffen and Stefan.
Pour murky brown, with a small off-white head.
Aroma is really complex, with lots of barrel, bourbon, vanilla, and plenty of brandy/bourbon soaked prunes, dates.
Taste is sweet and complex.
Semi-full body, with an average carb. (Can really both taste and feel the "Angels Share" in this one)

At Avery’s 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Black with a thin light tan head. Nose is Pretty boozy chocolaty, with a molasses undertone with a touch of oak. Flavor is big and rich, a little overly sweet, with molasses, dark chocolate, booze, oak, with a chewy long sweet chocolaty aftertaste
