Poured into snifter. Off the bat, strong aromas of bourbon and brandy, wow! No head, looks like coke. Smells amazing! Bourbon and brandy with dark fruit, some vanilla and brown sugar. It tastes mostly like bourbon with brandy backbone and raisins. It's sticky and thick. One of my top favorites!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a jet black room the bottle with thick brown head that leaves great lace. Aroma is big on the barrel, chocolate and vanilla awesomeness. Taste follows, a bit more of the wood on the mouth. Thick and viscous. All that I expected but still a little absurdly priced at $15 for a 375.

Bottle caged and corked. Dark mahogany with a red tint with no head. Nose is sweet sweet brandy. Figs, raisin, Bourbon. Taste is sweet dark fruit with a lot of booze and barrel. Warming bittersweet booze warming finish. I think this bottle was a bit flat.

Shared 12.7 oz. bottle, viscously poured to snifters, displaying a mahogany highlighted, black/brown hue, with a modest but fleeting, bubbly, brownish tan head, and equally diminishing, spots & streaks of lacing, but a nice, tinted glow to the glass. The nose presented an initially quick hint of soy, then substantial roasted notes, and dark fruit. Full bodied, rich, bourbony & boozy, but quite smooth, with caramelly sweetness, and barrel influenced vanilla making more of a statement upon warming. An excellent, final offering to our weekly tasting session! Thanks, Tim!

The brandy is overwhelmed by the bourbon. How’s that for nitpicking? Aroma is almost all bourbon. Taste is more complex with chocolate, molasses and licorice.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2014 2014.03.11 - Lost Abbey Deliverance Ale. 375ml (?) bottle in pint glass. Complex stout a la Bourbon County or similar. Caramel/roasted malt to slight alcohol burn to cocoa finish. My first Lost Abbey, a good one. Minimal review as I am eating dinner.

Fresh on tap. Excellent blend of Lost Abbey's BBA Serpent Stout and Angel's Share, with distinct bourbon and brandy notes. Great flavor and a nice burn on the finish, if thinner than a few of the more viscous barrel aged stouts.
