COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our first release of the embodiment of good versus evil in a barrel-aged blend. Part bourbon barreled The Serpent’s Stout, and part brandy barreled The Angel’s Share, this is our most anticipated release of the summer.

Black in color with slight tan head. Woody vanilla complexity. Incredibly smooth, roasty dominated with boozy wood and vanilla tones. A great smooth, complex beer.

375cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours dark brown in the pour but once in the glass is pitch black with a hint of garnet around the edge when held up to light. Aroma is massively powerful concoction of bourbon, buttery vanilla, barrel, dark fruits and massive burnt malt. Taste is toasted fruit cake drenched in bourbon and brandy then covered in 65% coca chocolate. Sweetness is quite upfront however the rest of the beer is so powerful it balances itself out as to not be sickly. Moderate bitterness and the creamiest mouthfeel ever with no carbonation to speak of.

12.7oz bottle from Erzbierschof. Pours pitch black with no head. It’s strong, intense and complex, but lacks the balance that I need to enjoy a beer that powerful.

May 4th, 2013 - We’re at the halfway point here in what is easily the most luxurious, intense and flavor dense beer party I’ve ever been to. Lost Abbey has taken out all the stops, and as I move from beer to beer I make an effort to go darker and darker. This strategy leads me to the Lost Abbey Deliverance, a deep, dark brew with a cratered head of muddy brown foam. Alcohol, licorice and molasses blend with all-spice, cardamon and soy in the nose, and the boozy nature of this beast appears in the flavor too. There I catch some bourbon flavor on a flat palate, leaving the alcohol not too sharp or cutting. There’s a low, oozing sugar too, with licorice, and a mostly sweet touch of brown sugar, vanilla, soy sauce and all spice. Even with a flatter mouthfeel this is an intense beer - in your face and somewhat extreme, and not at all elegant.

Ölföreningen 2014. Smak och doft av torkad frukt, karamell, marsipan, fikon med toner av läder och russin. Koncenterade dofter, tjock, rund och len. Känsla av rom, bourbon och madeira. Välbalanserad med lagom sötma. Fantastiskt gott!

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2014 Live draft at SB which means Special Brews. Out of the 3 BA big beers in front of me this is the best, which apparently doesn’t say much. Still too much alcohol and barrel, overly big beer. Autolysis underneath that as well, boo. However, this is in the standard over-the-top, big beer category and I know some people like that. At least not bitter hops and alcohol is just bad as opposed to insane rubbing alcohol (i.e., another beer in front of me). Its seems like this beer needs more Serpent Stout and less Angel’s Share. Its like no matter what you do to Angel’s Share it still fucks up the beer.

Smell of bourbon vanilla and chocolate. Similar taste. Very sweet with syrup, roasted notes and dark chocolate. Very nice, lots of flavour but not too much. The sweetness balance out the roasted.

2013 bottle- Pours dark and thick with pretty much no head. Aroma of prunes, cocoa, vanilla, and barrel. Tastes very sweet with very little bitterness and just enough booze on the finish to remind you that this is bartel aged- also leaves a bit of tannin on the finish. Flavors of prunes, orange, chery, oak, and bourbon. Very nice sipper!

A lot of chocolate in smell and taste. Some hints of sweet bitterness between the chocolate.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Pitch black appearance with hardly any head. The brandy from the cask is present. Boozy. Sweet, chocolate, dried fruits. Aroma can best be described by schnaps praliné. Taste is sweet, boozy, alcohol hot. A good one, but not over the top imho. And very expensive over here in Europe. Edit: more vanilla after a while, less hot. A bit better.
