nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Nov 7, 2009 On tap at Blind Lady in San Diego. Mostly clear bright golden color with a creamy one-finger white head and some lacing. Aroma is yeast, pale malt, cereal grains, and citrus hops. Flavor is pale malt, mild grain, lots of yeast, and bitter grapefruity hops. Palate fairly lively with medium-light body and a bitter finish. Good Belgian golden ale overall. mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Nov 2, 2009 Bottle atleast 1 year old. Pours a cloudy Monet golden wheat color large fluffy white head. Aroma is a slight musty lemon smell, some good malt grain and a slight sugar also, slight aging hop presence. Odd but very enjoyable. Flavor is quite grainy and musty a decent hop bitterness gives a good mouthfeel Not a ton of flavor but very easy drinking and enjoyable could easily drink more Slipstream (735), USA Nov 1, 2009 Odd label notes - what priory are they going on about? Champagne bottle with a quaint, rustic drawing on the label. Big, foamy head on a cloudy tan pour. Pleasantly sweet and spicy in the nose. This is a fairly light and dry Belgian ale that is lacking esters. This would be a good summer brew - it is refreshing and lightly bittered, with flavors of wheat, pith, and a little lime. Not bad, but did they need a champagne cork for this? I think not. patrickfannon (274), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2009 Bottle. 25.4 oz. Split with Braden and Jack. Pours slightly hazy golden with a thick, full white head. Aroma of citurs, wheat, hay, and honey. Medium bodied. Smooth, clean mouth feel. Average finish. Decent brew, but I expected more from Lost Abbey. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Oct 30, 2009 750 ml cork and caged bottle from Abes. Pours an ugly shade of light brown with lots of clinging bubbles and a thick full creamy bright white head. Aroma is solid with green apples, honey, yeast, toffee, and cereal. The body has some fizzy carbonation and a quick hint of sweetness before turning very dry. The flavor has just a hint of fruit but is mostly grain and cereal dominant. Although a very solid beer I wouldnt exactlly say Im devoted to this one. tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Oct 28, 2009 On tap at Brixie’s, Brookfield, IL. and served in a Lost Abbey tumbler. Poured a clear, deep gold with a silky, white foam to the head and thick sheets of lasting lace which reminded me of a nitro pour. The nose was lightly floral, esters, and sweetness. The flavor presented a lasting dryness, light grain as wheat and a moderate hop bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, light bodied, dry, and smooth. tarheels86 (705), Washington DC, USA Oct 25, 2009 750 mL courtesy of Shyam; shared with tastybeer.
Pours a cloudy light yellow with a small, white head that leaves very good lacing. Aroma is musty, yeasty, honey, watermelon bubblegum. Taste is clover honey, candi sugar, yeast and well balanced by grassy, herbal hops. Big hop presence and dry, grassy hop finish. Goes down quickly. Overall it is light, refreshing, and well balanced albeit a bit boring (and expensive). Bragesnak (2225), Aarhus, Denmark Oct 22, 2009 From Voldby, DK.
Bottled, 161009.
Yellow with white head. Aroma of spices and malt. Flavor is sweet with caramel and some yeasty fruit.
