Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Botella. Huge thanks to Skinnyviking. Hazy orange colour, medoum white head, good lacing. Hoppy fruity piney sweet aroma. Dry great mouthfeel. Flavour is dry with a pleasant hoppiness, nice sweetness, fruit and apricot.

Completely opaque, with sheets of layered lacing down the side as the beer drains. Almost cardboard in color, with a lively orange tint, kind of like creamy peanut butter, and quite unlike anything I’ve ever seen in a beer before. Yeasty, sweet pear aroma. Sweet apple flavor, with a bitter/sour aftertaste of earthy grains. Yummy.

Bright gold with a lofty, lasting, diversely bubbled head. Spicy, yeasty, inviting nose. Soft on the tongue up front; tingly toward the finish. Light and grainy malts had just a light sweetness, that of honey, crackers and sugar cookies. Very spicy; notes of flowers, grass, pepper and rose petals. Light bitterness; somewhat dry aftertaste. Pleasant and enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Pours cloudy and golden with a big white head, with good lacing. Smells like pine, hay, citrus, apple, and oak. Medium body. Sweet, citrus, spicy, candy malt taste up front, fades into a slighty dry, mild-bitter hoppy aftertaste.

Slightly hazy, golden orange with a thin, quickly dissipating white head. Light grains, sweet mango, light honey, orange, apricot, yeast and some residual sugar. The body is smooth, but also fairly thin. Nice carbonation that is lively enough to make it’s presence felt without being too strong upon the tongue. The flavor starts sweet with nice depth and fluidly transforms into a healthy, but not overpowering bitterness. A lovely beer that appropriately closes out the summer.

Review #200. Bottle into chalice. Pours a hazy dark gold, with a creamy off-white head that settles into a thin cap for the duration of the beer and leaves a wall of lacing all the way down the glass. Nose is grassy hops, yeast, apricot and citrus, and some candy sugar. Taste starts off with a dose of dry, spicy Belgian yeast and malt/candy sweetness, though the sweetness is light and slightly fruity. Finish is grassy and herbal hops, light bitterness, with a lingering yeasty spiciness and a fruity hint. Grassy, slightly herbal hops sit underneath at the front, and fully emerges as the taste progresses. Once it pushes to the top it’s clearly the dominant aspect of the beer. Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, medium-light body, but creamy and full at the same time. Fantastic beer in one of my favorite styles - Abbey Single. In the mold of Westmalle Bier Extra. Light, refreshing hop note and a light, dry body make for one of the most supremely refreshing beers I can imagine, while still maintaining some of the signature yeasty, fruity notes characteristic of Belgian beers.

Pours a hazy blond with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, yeast, and a little spice. It is a surprisingly light beer from Lost Abbey. Finishes easy and a little dry.
