Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Split with Braden and Jack. Pours slightly hazy golden with a thick, full white head. Aroma of citurs, wheat, hay, and honey. Medium bodied. Smooth, clean mouth feel. Average finish. Decent brew, but I expected more from Lost Abbey.

750 ml cork and caged bottle from Abes. Pours an ugly shade of light brown with lots of clinging bubbles and a thick full creamy bright white head. Aroma is solid with green apples, honey, yeast, toffee, and cereal. The body has some fizzy carbonation and a quick hint of sweetness before turning very dry. The flavor has just a hint of fruit but is mostly grain and cereal dominant. Although a very solid beer I wouldnt exactlly say Im devoted to this one.

On tap at Brixie’s, Brookfield, IL. and served in a Lost Abbey tumbler. Poured a clear, deep gold with a silky, white foam to the head and thick sheets of lasting lace which reminded me of a nitro pour. The nose was lightly floral, esters, and sweetness. The flavor presented a lasting dryness, light grain as wheat and a moderate hop bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, light bodied, dry, and smooth.

750 mL courtesy of Shyam; shared with tastybeer.

Pours a cloudy light yellow with a small, white head that leaves very good lacing. Aroma is musty, yeasty, honey, watermelon bubblegum. Taste is clover honey, candi sugar, yeast and well balanced by grassy, herbal hops. Big hop presence and dry, grassy hop finish. Goes down quickly. Overall it is light, refreshing, and well balanced albeit a bit boring (and expensive).

Described by Tomme as a Belgian blonde ale, this light yellow beer sported a tiny offwhite head. The Aroma was herbal and hoppy, with some underlying light sweetness and some yeast. Flavor is slightly bitter with some ballancing sweetness and floral hop character. Refreshing and flavorful, one of the best takes on the style Ive had to date.

Hazy yellowish beer with a small white head. Aroma is quite hoppy for the style- the dry hopping really shows through here. Excellent take on the style- almost like an american pale ale with a huge belgian yeast twist. Lots of bitterness with some sweet malt and floral bitterness. Palate is medium to full with an effervescent mouthfeel and swet finish.

On tap at the Sinner’s and Saint’s party. Pours a clear gold with a thick foamy white head. Sharp aroma, of yeast, malt, grass, and lemon. Taste is crisp, of lemon, malt, and grass. Lingering crisp sharpness. Decent.
