fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2008 Bottle courtesy of I think Quake1028. Pours a clear golden with a one finger white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of citrus, sweet pilsner malt, and floral hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and a dry crisp finish. Very good. dogfish120love (250), west hartford, Connecticut, USA Jun 24, 2008 Wow first thing that hits me is a light hint apple. As a matter of fact carve out an apple and stuff it with hops, that pretty much what this beer tastes like. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Jun 24, 2008 I liked how this beer is essentially a hop bomb, but just doesn’t come across that way. Perhaps it’s the label. That’s it. The label, showing a calm, pastoral setting, lacks that bravado one sees on the labels of super-hopped beers and the effect is to make me study the nuances of this fascinating brew. This has all of the citrus fruit elements that I would expect, but there is some really nice light malt and yeast flavors which lift this above the ordinary hop monster. Very good stuff. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2008 My first Lost Abbey beer ever. Pours a nice cloudy golden color. Head is foamy and white. Aromas are yeasty, breadlike and really rich. Flavors are hops, some malt, and slight hints of bread. Very nice balance. Winner for sure. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2008 750ml. Pours hazy yellow/golden color with a decent sized white head. Aroma is bready, slightly peppery, doughy, with some nice subtle citrusy esters. Pleasant enough. Flavor has all the same adjectives as the aroma, dry, fairly high carbonation, low bitterness. I think this is quite successful at what it sets out to do. The only big knock I have on it is its price. If this were significantly cheaper I could see this being an everyday type beer for me. hellbilly (1493), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jun 22, 2008 Updated: Dec 24, 2008draft at papago... pale maple wood color with a soft white head and scattered lacing. aroma is initially candy-ish... bubble gum, citrus and malty sweetness mix with yeast, grassy dryness and peppery spice. the flavor is mildly yeasty with a touch of sweet citrusy fruit. it*s quite grassy, dry, woody and very herbaceous. dry parching finish carries into the aftertaste. medium body is very refreshing and satisfying in the desert heat...7/3/7/3/16/3.6
picking up a lot of noble hoppiness in the aroma along with some umami notes. the palate is quite dry and there*s a bunch of minerals and spice on the finish. not really complex but it is incredibly satisfying in the summer... or winter... or whatever.7/3/8/3/16/3.7 GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2008 A cold pour reveals a golden copper color and a modest, very English, beachball spattered froth that reduces to a just as modest lace. Aromas of aged citrus and tropicals. Medium nectar w/ superb carbonation. This is a nice brew w/ great balance. Flavor wise it reminds me more of an English ale w/ some tropical nuaces rathern than a Belgian Ale. Gentle citus and banana compliment eachother wrapped in a moderate malt blanket w/ striking hopsy citrus rind bittering. The finish satisfys and demands to be consumed. This beer is delicious! jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 19, 2008 2008-06-20. Lightly hazy golden body with a modest fluffy white head. (3+) Zesty, lightly grassy aroma, light hops, muted lemon. (7+) Similar flavour, zippy lemon and grass, light bitterness. (7+). Smooth average palate is effervescent. (3+) Quite pleasant.
