It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

On tap at Monk’s Kettle. Hazy amber with a foamy head. Great Belgian spicy aroma. Taste is bitter, spicy, herbal, with a bitter finish. Really good!

Pours deep hazy amber with huge off-white top, good, rich small spotty lasing. Aroma - mostly what I call maturation (some sour yeast with tones of leather I guess), but this one indeed in Belgian style. Taste - mostly gentle bitter with minimal sweetness, weird but in taste sour notes does not present. Dry finish, medium body, soft-watery texture, medium carbonation, malty, light sweet-bitter aftertaste. Now I know that it is Belgain ale and for that this is nice one, with one but - flavor vanishes fast so to fully enjoy, must quick-sip :)

Draft at Lou and mickeys in San Diego. Pours a bronze looking color with a nice head that fades. Taste is like a standard blonde ale with some Belgium inspirTion. Nice ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle (June 2011) pours hazy orange with big 3 finger head. Lots of sediment. Still has a ton of carbonation for a 2.5 year old bottle. Nose is earthy apple, fruit, some hay. Taste is apple juice, fruity, earthy, orange. Finish is fruity, some sweet citrus notes, malt. Held up surprisingly well for being this old.

Draft at brewery. Pours golden with an inch of white foam. Leaves a lot of lacing. It’s got the crisp sweet Belgian thing of the nose. A bit of fruitiness on the tongue along with the Belgian yeast. The finish has a bit of grapefruit to, it which muddies the waters but makes the beer infinitely more interesting.

Aroma of belgian yeast and a bit funk, tastes like a Leffe but less sweet and with more hops.
