cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 23, 2009 Bottle at home ... amber ... thin white head ... sweet pine ... light sweet fruity hop ... juicy .. little cream ... littl ebitter .. possibly a little oxidiesed. jeremytoni (1070), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Aug 17, 2009 From a bottle poured a hazy straw color with a lot of head. Nice spicy flavor with a quick finish. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 7, 2009 On tap at the brewery 07-10-09. Don’t have much for notes on this one besides my scores and that very nice amber pour with a great balanced bitterness. larryLSB (140), La Selva Beach, California, USA Aug 5, 2009 Poured from 750, courtesy of SamGamgee. Cloudy golden amber with a huge white head. Subtle nose of fruit, lemon and banana and a hint of the hops. Nice dry light taste. Very enjoyable Abbey Ale. gorditoabd (162), San Diego, California, USA Aug 1, 2009 Bomber. Pours a lovely copper-tinged golden color with ample, white, lacey head. Aroma is floral, grapefruit and orange rinds, with just a touch of mild spice (nutmeg?). Initial taste is surprisingly bitter considering the aroma, all light hops and malt, with a touch of old penny flavor. Yeah, there seems to be something not right about this one; gotta give it a minute to see… Further tasting only reveals that something really falls flat on the palate of this beer. It seems to want to go from bitter, to sweet to balanced, but this bottle just falls short of that. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Aug 1, 2009 75cl bottle. Hazy gold with a thick white head. The aroma has lots of spicy hops augmented by spicy yeast phenols and some fruity esters that have some lemon, and vague banana and melon. The flavor is dry with some pale malt, spicy and bitter hops, and some yeasty fruitiness that mixes well with the fruitier, lemony side of the hops. Light bodied with smooth carbonation. Hoppy stuff for a Belgian blond ale, and the hops mix well with the yeast character, whith the bitterness never getting astringent or out of balance. As good as their special releases can be, these guys have a bangin’ regular lineup for the most part. beerchugger (285), Colorado, USA Jul 25, 2009 Wonderful aromas of yeast, slight lemon and other citrus. Pours a thin white head that remains throughout sitting atop a body of hazy orange. Very hoppy upfront. Citrus and lemon are very dominate. Belgian yeast is also very noticeable. Finish is rather bitter. RedSox2004 (353), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Jul 25, 2009 Hazy orange with a gigantic head that took forever to settle, and left great thick lacing. Light fruit - peaches, grapefruit - and spicy aroma with some grassy hops. Grapefruit and hops are up front on the tongue, with some lemon, honey and tartness rounding it out. Highly carbonated, slick mouthfeel, and clean lemony aftertaste.
