Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Decent bready malts, a rather full mouthfeel - really hits the the entire mouth with flavor. A big rush of hops - flavor and bittering. The yeast flavors provide more balance against the hop than the malts, but I found the beer to have enough malt to hold up. Long fresh hop finish. Fresh cut grass, a bit of citrus. The hops tasted freshly harvested, maybe the label is effecting me....but that fresh hop flavor really came through. As with so many of Tomme’s beers - complex, flavorful and perfect beer for rish cheeses and crusty bread.

Aroma is lightly spicey, with citrus, and a light hoppiness. Taste is much the same as the aroma, fairly hoppy for a belgian style.

750ml bottle; nose of flowery citrus hops; lightly hazed dark gold with a medium straw haed; flavor is hop bitterness, lemon, and a slight bit of caramel. Not Lost Abbeys best! Tastes like a mediocre IPA.

bottle....appearance: orange-brown hue with a thick/fluffy white head. very much resembled an ipa in nature.....aroma: crisp, hoppy citrus nose.....taste: light medium body, somewhat like a lighter belgian ale with a nice citrus bitterness. some wheat qualities come into play as well.

Golden-hazy pour with a nice white head. Aroma is grainy and yeasty with a nice bit of citrus. Flavor has a bready, yeasty mix to it with some orange and spice. Nice brew, but way too average to be worth "Lost Abbey" prices. I’ll take these average brews if it means Tomme makes such great brews.......

Bottle: Hazy, honey-ish golden pour with a frothy white head. The nose is Belgian yeasts, plastic-y phenolic notes, and citruc spices; slightly herbal. Has lively carbonation on the medium body. Spicy citruses dominate. Lots of orange type fruits, herbal undertones, with a spicy (white pepper) character. The finish is long spicy (peppery). Not very complex, but somewhat well made.
