3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a slightly hazy dark golden bronze with an airy, frothy, clingy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of semi-sweet pale malts with a touch of floral, grassy hops. Body starts with a light malty sweetness, some earthy aged hoppy notes, a touch of toasted bread and a hint of black pepper toward a drier thinner finish. A pretty refreshing brew, but nothing that interesting or unique about it, although itís fairly true to style.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Lemon yellow pour with a soda pop head. Lively lemon is apparent in both nose and body. The malt builds a decent caramel base, but is one dimensional, with the yeast adding apple, pear and peach esthers. Plastic, Orval-like taste throughout. The spritzy carbonation, uninspired yeast and plastic undertones were a downer for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to jimbowood for sending this beer my way. Pours cloudy amber with a rocky beige head. The aroma is very hoppy with citrus and very fresh green hops. There is also some grass and pine as well ans well as some grainy pils-like malt hiding in the back. Medium body with some gentle semi-sharp carbonation. The taste starts with some earthy hops, light Belgium yeast, pine and some light malt. The finish has lots and lots of hops - pine, wood, grass and green hops. This strikes me as a quality West Coast APA with a Belgium twist. Very nice beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dull yellow. Fully-retained, pasty white froth clings nicely with each sip. Perfumey and expressively hoppy aromas of grapefruit, grass, and dried pineapple are underlined by plasticy phenols and fresh hay. Hint of black pepper and popcorn. Soft but lively carbonation. Snappy phenols immediately battle the citric hops which fade into a bouncy yet slightly grainy and popcorny-tinged straw-like malt foundation. Sharp grassy bitterness steadily builds alongside notes of assorted citrus rind and complements the peppery esters as well as the airy phenols. Notably soft and starchy. Popcorn steadily heightens in its intensity, taking on a mild acridness, and the plastic becomes overbearing rather than complementary, halfway through the bottle. Malt also fails to impart any depth of sweetness and texture. Finishes assertively hoppy with sharp notes of citrus zest and tongue-tingling oils, but fairly flabby and dirtily malty (popcorn) with lingering notes of grass and flowers. Iím a huge fan of phenolic beers, especially of the low(ish)-gravity type such as this, but this is surprisingly flawed. Way too popcorny, grainy and plasticy for me. But at least it isnít a yeast and banana bomb. Thanks to my pal cquiroga for the bottle.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml bottle. Maybe I had higher expectations than I should have had because I was trying a Lost Abbey ale, but this one left me wanting. Though this beer is not meant to be as complex as its Belgian cousins, it was mostly one-dimensional and that one dimension was not all that enjoyable. Cloudy yellow-golden body with a fizzy, small, white head. Aroma is grainy with a hint of lacquer-like yeast. The flavor is moderately sweet and harshly bitter with a light astringency on top of that. Lively carbonation and a medium body.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle... RBSG 07... Cloudy amber ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is of pale grains and blue corn with a subdued pungency. The flavor provides good balance with notes of spent mash, lemon peel and grapefruit pith. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Finishes woodsy and lightly bitter. Thanks to Walt for sharing his bottle!

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
bottle at Port Brewing tasting at the Brickskeller. cloudy gold. aroma is mild: fruity malt, a hint of hops (but not much, at least after tasting sharkbite immediately before). flavor is smooth belgian malt, full body. nice big noble/herbal hop finish. this is stellar, one of my favorites of the night, and certainly the most balanced hoppy beer of the night.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 bottle. Pours a mostly clear gold with a fingers worth of fine white foam. Lacing is also present. Some grassy notes along with a bit of spicy. The spice is also present in the taste along with a yeasty, somewhat bitter finish. The palate falls in the medium range. Overall a nice beer but not their best effort.
