Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Bottle. Tastes and smells like an american pale ale brewed with belgian yeast.

Tasting at a beerfest [Disclaimer: This was tasted along with many, many other beers during a tasting at Julios. Some of the details are a little hazy]. Given the price they charge for these I was expecting something much more exciting than the fairly average belgian style ale that it is.

Bottle from Ölbutikken. Pours golden and hazy with lots of carbonation. Smells of metal, apple and butter. Malty taste and belgian yeast, besides which the flavour is rather american.

Bomber obtained through a trade at Dark Lord Day 2009 shared with soccer290. This beer poured a deep yellow color with a one finger width white frothy head that disappeared very quickly. It had virtually no carbonation and no lacing on the glass. The aroma consisted of light hops and some citrus... very boring. It tasted like light hops, very light citrus, and spring water. Finished a bit bitter. I was excited to try my first Lost Abbey brew... it was very disappointing though.

22 oz bottle acquired by trade at DLD 09, shared with General66. Pours a dark golden color with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of hops and citrus. The taste however is very disappointing. Tastes of spring water and light hops, with no real backbone to the flavor. And to make matters worse, it is quite bitter too. Not good at all.

Bottle. Cloudy orangey/golden beer with a strong head. The aroma is rich and mildly spiced, and the flavour is spiced and very bitter at the finish. Overall a nice beer.

Hazy golden color, white head. Fresh citrus and grape hoppy scent, also anise and spicy, ingerbread douch. Hoppy citrus taste, dry. Medium mouthfeel, high bitterness.

Sample from STLWill (Thanks!) Yellow pour, plenty of carbonation. Aroma was rose and very herbal. Flavor was also floral and bitter with a silky mouthfeel on the finish.
