jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Apr 13, 2009 Bottle@Home. Pale amber colour, off-white head, good lace. Light sweet, bitter, licorice, caramel, spices. Medium body. Nice session ale. jeff789 (360), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2009 Hazy golden with nearly no head... Aroma is mildly yeasty with notes of fruit, though very nondescript otherwise... Dominant note of green apple, with more yeast, a faint touch of spice and nouget... Quite dry in the finish, medium bodied... redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Apr 5, 2009 A very boring beer for the price, even on sale.
A peach/grape fruit aroma up front with some soft floral notes. Clear dark gold color, medium head (nothing special) that forms a thin head, no lacing.
Rain fresh, yeast, farmhouse, fairly watery that does not leave a good first impression. mvardjan (8), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Mar 30, 2009 Nice cloudy pale pour with good head. Spice with nice balance of bitters and citrus. daniele (1645), Italy Mar 30, 2009 chiara schiuma buona persistente note lupplater sull’agrumato legermente acidule fresche in bocca piuttosto secca lupppoolata il malto è poco fresca fidelis83 (709), Clinton, Iowa, USA Mar 25, 2009 Pours a murky grayish honey with a 3 finger (in a chalice no less) chunky peachy beige head that has excellent retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma has a ton of grassy hop and slightly spicy yeast qualities, hints of citrus zest, grapefruit juice, sourdough bread dough, some limestone, cornfield in summer and just a hint of buttered toast. Flavor is full of citrus hop meets belgian yeast character. First up is lime, grapefruit, and orange juice sweetened with clover honey, followed by yeasty bread rolls with pepper and marmalade, some pine comes in along with lemon danish washed down with grapefruit juice and crusty bread for the finish. Palate is medium to thin with a slightly syrupy entry, strangely oily feel and dry, oily, acidic finish. I see this as a yeasty Belgian Single/bitter APA mix, it turns out quite nicely. If I could find this at $8-10/6 pack I would probably buy it all the time but at $10/750ml it will remain a pleasant oddity that I might buy from time to time. I think it would make an excellent pairing with spicy roast duck and stuffing. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Mar 24, 2009 Side by Side with the Saints Devotion thanks to Beerlando. Orangish cloudy pour with a big puffy white head. Nose is very spicy with lots of peppery yeast and some orange peel and citrus. Flavor is quite yeasty with a bit of a pepper note in the finish. Citrusy. Not amazing but a very solid saison like belgian. bierkoning (5992), La Tropica, Netherlands Mar 24, 2009 Corked bottle. Pinkish blonde color. Grassy citric hoparoma and flavor with a hint of nutmeg. Silky mouthfeel. Firm grassy hopbitter aftertaste with pepper and nutmeg. Lovely well balanced blonde ale.
