COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Slightly hazy, golden orange with a thin, quickly dissipating white head. Light grains, sweet mango, light honey, orange, apricot, yeast and some residual sugar. The body is smooth, but also fairly thin. Nice carbonation that is lively enough to make it’s presence felt without being too strong upon the tongue. The flavor starts sweet with nice depth and fluidly transforms into a healthy, but not overpowering bitterness. A lovely beer that appropriately closes out the summer.

Tap at Backcountry. Pours hazy orange with white head. Aroma is slightly wild, oranges, very light aromatics. Taste is light bodied, funky, thin, really kinda boring. Overall, simple.

A nice brew, light on the nose with a bit of hay and citrus. Crisp taste with a tiny bit of funk but mostly hay and bread. Finishes quick and clean. Also, ElGaucho is the man

750ml. Followed almanac sourdough wild. Very similar beers. This one is peppery, perhaps more subtle funk. Interesting that this is more highly rated because both my buddy and I prefer the almanac. Excellent and refreshing

Spice fruits ripe banana aroma. Mountain Dew like carbonation. Some phenolics. Very Belgian like. Finishes with crisp spicy fruits.

Very nice. Saison-like. Good Belgian yeast. For an American Belgian, surprisingly high carbonation. Recommended.

Draft at Salt and Cleaver. Pours hazy golden amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes like dry yeast, doughy malt, lemon, grapefruit, light spice. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like light banana, yeast, light spice, and citrus.

Old rating. Slightly cloudy gold. Yeasty, peppery, over honey, pine, grass. Long bitter finish. Nice.

On the cold weather Pgh tour of winter 2015 spring at bocktown robinson, part 2. A cloudy pale beer with a little bit of orange in ther. Has a slight mint aroma on top of a belgian beery yeast odor. Yeah that belgian yeast thing hangs in ther. Never over the top mind you. A little bit of medicine devops as the session continues. One of the better domestic belgian wannah be ales, heheh. Civilized and well behaved all over. Hides alky well.

Draught @ Monk’s Cafe: It was a lower lighting, but it appeared to be a fairly clear amber color. There was a big frothy off-white head on it that left some lacing. It has a nice nose. A fairly good amount of hops: mainly grapefruit and pine. A little bit of pepperiness and yeast. The taste is very good. It has a bit of a bite. Citrus and earthiness, some pepper, yeast and breadiness. Nice.
