Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Pours a clear golden hue with a lightly frothed white head. Aromas of citrus, flowers, a little grass, and light hop presence. Mouth feel is light bodied with flavors of apples, a hint of oak, subdued sweetness with a dry finish. Nice.

Aroma is faint with a hint of spice. Color is a hazy yellow orange with light carbonation and thin but tight head with very good head cling. Taste is spicy and bold. Starting with a medium body it goes down light with a crisp feel. Finish is a malty spicy taste with a hint of citrus. After taste a slight bitterness and some citrus. This is a good brew.

750ml bottle(Patron & Saints Club)-Pours a hazy orangish amber body with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, coriander and saison like, and slight hops. Taste of the same with the hops being fairly prominent. This light to medium bodied brew finishes with a dryness. A diffferent brew but still tasty.

Pours a glowing bright orange with a light whitish head. Smell is lightly bretty and spiced. Taste is lightly hoppy and dry with some light funky brettiness to it and an almost cereal like component to the malt. Pretty tasty and drinkable, but not one of The Lost Abbey’s standout beers at all.

$10 bottle, corked and caged from Capone’s, iirc, to enjoy the Phils’ first playoff win in what ... 15 years?. Musty yeast nose, Duvel-like but with some candis and dust. Near-coriander and some saison-ish tones. Hazy golden body still lets light through, brig fluffy, brilliantly white head. Slightly sour, very dry (bone dry!) and bitter with some earthy, leafy overtones, light spice, appreciated rubber gloves and cork astringency. Dusty with most of the contribution from the yeast. Medium body, but the water-sucking body makes it feel a bit fuller than that. Sags under the heat of the country sun, hops are a bit more Belgian than the yeast, dry and refreshing and ultimately interesting!

A dark golden beer. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy for a Belgian ale, and the flavor supports the nose. I think they brewed an IPA and maybe used a Belgian yeast. Good. Odd. But good.
