Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

On-tap today at Stone. Pours light orange with a fluffy white head, decent retention, good lace. Smells big and malty with a bit of spiciness and citrus. Tastes crisp and malty, bready with a touch of citrus spice in the flavor as well. Medium body, vibrant carbonation.

Let me say, straight up, this beer perfectly compliments cajun food. So if you’re serving Jambalaya, Dirty Rice or Gumbo - include this beer. It has the hops to fight through the heat of the food, the floral capabilities to "add value" to the meal, and the lingering sour finish to make you want more. Pours golden with white head. Flavor is a mix of bretts, musk and Belgian goodness.

Bottle from Jessup Beverage. A lot of grass and pepper but overall a very drinkable beer despite a somewhat farm-like musky character. This would be nice on tap. Not the best from the brewery though. After Judgement Day I thought hmmmmm.

Bottle at Monks..7/15/08...Light copper with a small off-white head...sweet whiffs of light orange and an earthy grassy thing....light and crisp with some citrus bite...poofy in the mouth carbonation...its tart with a bit of a sour finish...light dry and hoppy...was a little disappointed with my first Lost Abbey experience...oh well it went well with the Bass

Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Pils-like hazy golden with brief lively head. Grassy malt with butter undeneath. Dry, yet fruity with medium body. The grassy malt and hay-like hops makes it reminiscent of a pilsener, but fruitier. Mineraly finish with lingering bitterness. The mouthfeel is cleaner than in my dreams, but it remains very drinkable. I really appreciate the effort to brew tradition style laid back beers, but this is no real masterpiece yet. For ultimate perfection perhaps 10 generations of practive is needed?

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is slight malts, some yeast and hops. Flavour is grass, malts, hops and some slight notes of caramel malts. A bit acidic fruityness is also there.
