It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael. The beer is hazy and straw yellow with a thick white head that coats the glass in lacing. The aroma offers funk, yeast, grass. Smells great. Nice and malty with a refreshing yeast character. Smooth feel on the palate. Solid.

Sampled on draught. Clear orange gold with a foaming white head. Aromas of pear drops and a taste of candy, pear drops and Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Some bitterness to offset the sweetness. Good mouthfeel. Interesting, but not a classic. Might appeal to lovers of bubblegum.

Hazy holden with a firm head. Aroma is esters, slight pepper, slight citrus, distinct dupont smell. Estery palate, grassy but overpowered by esters. My least favorite from this great brewery.

Keg at CBC Islington. Orange, light haze, still, small foamy white head. Aroma is yeasty, spice and honey. Body is medium, tingly carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is spice, tangerine, yeast and candi sugar. Quite nice overall. Has that Belgian vibe they were looking for.
