bleeng (275), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 750 bottle. Hazy dark tan pour with a small white head. Very effervescent. Nose of spices brett??, old socks, alcohol. Taste: alcohol is upfront, spicy, malty, chewy, warming but harsh, easy to drink but not to swallow. Sweet yet bitter. An interesting beer but I’m not sure where they were going with this one. A good drinker, unique, but not a beer you’d put on your "must search out" list.
BrotherGrendel (47), San Diego, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 A clear deep orange hue with a nice layer of creamy brown head that sustains well. Aroma is caramel and bread malts, a range of fruits and winter spices, citrus hops, and moderate alcohol body. Flavor is initially thick caramel malts interleaved with drying hops on top of a significant layer of spices and darker fruits, finishes sweet with modest alcohol warming. Palate is thick with moderate carbonation. A flavorful winter beer (drank in August!) with a spice profile that compliments the dominant malts and hops. Praetorian (42), Los Angeles, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 Updated: Aug 18, 2008pours amber-orange with a large white head with minimal lacing. The aroma is fruity with a strong citrus overtone and notes of pineapple and yeast. The flavor is fruity and malty with a yeasty undertone and a bitter finish. The texture is syrupy. A very good beer: enjoyable and refreshing with a decent kick. Avengedpoet (21), Arizona, USA Aug 13, 2008 Pours with great clarity. A very beautiful beer to look at. Smells are equally beautiful, a cavalcade of Christmasy aromas and spices mix with citrusy hops to assault your senses. Unfortunately, the same can be said for the taste. Over the top citrus hops and intense spices ruined the taste of this one for me. I can definitely see where this will taste much better with age after some of those hops and spices fall out. Hoping the one in my cellar will be better after aging a year. Definitely not a favorite for me. eaglefan538 (2039), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Aug 11, 2008 Bottle from Topps in Tempe. The pour was a full orange-amber color with a nice initial white foamy head (weak retention, but a layer did remaind and yielded ok lacing. The aroma was caramel, some breadiness, chamomile or lavendar type spicing. The flavor followed suit, dry and finishing with a hop balance. Fairly clean and slightly acidic mouthfeel. A nice shot at the style, amped up for sure. Bottle write up humorous. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 30, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fordest. Pours a very cloudy orangey golden with a yellowish head. Aroma of hops, yeast and phenols. Medium body with the main flavours being fruit and yeast. Has an astringent bitter finish with loads of alcohol - almost boozy. 260708
