And so the Three Wise Men set out from the East bearing gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Along the Way, they followed a bright light. The Bible neglects to mention if they brought beer or not. Who goes crossing the desert without beer? How smart are we to believe these wise men were? Since Christmas is the season of gift giving more than receiving, please be a giver and share the Wisdom found in each and every bottle of our Gift of the Magi.

One of my favorite offerings of one of my favorite styles. The fizzy carbonation calms down and flavors really come out as it warms.

On tap, don’t remember where. Pour is slightly hazy amber with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor of dark fruit, spice, and doughy grain. Finish is spice with a hint of booze.

The aroma is raisin, fruit, yeast. The appearance is deep, clear amber, off white head. The flavor is sweet, fruity, raisins, plum, yeast, pine The finish is yeast, chalky, spicy, light pine hops. Medium in body Nice overall, a tad weak on the aroma. Maybe because this was overaged.

750 ml corked and caged, vintage stamped on neck, but it’s smudged.
Aroma is fruity, raisin, honey, toffee, floral hops.
Flavor is sweet, raisin, fig, spicy hops. Alcohol is hidden well. Bought from the seasonal markdown shelf at Total Wine. Since it is a Christmas themed beer, and it was after Christmas, I got it for $3.99. Easily the best buy of the year so far.

Raisins and a slight plum taste. Very smooth. 1 finger head upon pour into Trappist glass. Alcohol, as prev noted by others, very well hidden. A fantastic beer.

This bottle has an abv of 12%. Pour is cloudy reddish amber with a slight white head and no lacing, nice unusual color. Aroma of raisin, plum, caramel, honey, and earth. Nice balance of flavors, fruity but not too sweet, has a medium noble hop bitterness, full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, lingering fruity finish. The alcohol is well hidden. Very good for the price ($9.99 at The Boulevard Liquor). The promo text/deScription on the bottle is kind of cheesy.

Bottle. Murky amber pour. Nice fruity and candy notes. Very nicely balanced, quite tasty. Really delicious.

Heavy on the dried fruit, raisins, etc. Some Belgian yeast as well. A bit of booze shines through, but this is still quite drinkable. Good beer.

75cl bottle served in a teku. Pours a lovely clear light amber colour with a voluminous and fluffy white head. Aroma is slightly underwhelming presumably down to the massive head suppressing a lot of the aromas. Taste is upfront toffee and a grainy/cereal quality with a quite profound bitterness which perfectly balance one another with a wonderful spicy backdrop. A perfect Christmas drink and almost too easy drinking with the 10% ABV being completely undetectable.

Megkapó, kifejező címke jelzi az esték legszebbjének eljövetelét a Lost Abbey ünnepi főzetének címkéjén, olvasmányos tartalommal annak hátoldalán. Borostyán színe tömött, átláthatatlan test ékítője, akárcsak az arra jótékonyan boruló krémes, tojáshéj színű, kitartó habkorona. Igazán egyedi illatai mézzel meglocsolt, sejtelmes nyalánkságok hangulatát adják, angolos modorú, barley wine-szerű aromák képe bontakozik ki annak cukrozott-aszalt paradicsomos jellemvonásaival, illetőleg egy leheletnyi belgásan élesztős, fanyar bukéval. Karakteres ital, eleven ízjegyekkel, melyek élénken, ugyanakkor igen letisztult, kisimult formában közvetítik a behatárolhatatlanul változatos beltartalmat. Aszalványok, csonthéjas termések vonalai, malátatenger áradata, nehézkes, szirupos komlózamatok, cseppnyi vadság, elegáns összeszedettség. Szivárványszínű játéka ez az ízeknek, stílusoknak, mindennek, ami miatt érdemes a különlegesebb sörök felé fordítani a figyelmünket karácsonykor is.

Gift of the Maggi pours a beautiful shade of reddish brown and tastes mildly fruity with a dry aftertaste. I find it pairs well with a spicier food, but I think it'll pair with the typical foods Belgians pair well with as well (cheeses, salty meats, etc.) This is a great beer from a great brewery.
