And so the Three Wise Men set out from the East bearing gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Along the Way, they followed a bright light. The Bible neglects to mention if they brought beer or not. Who goes crossing the desert without beer? How smart are we to believe these wise men were? Since Christmas is the season of gift giving more than receiving, please be a giver and share the Wisdom found in each and every bottle of our Gift of the Magi.

Hazy amber pour with small off white head. Aroma of fruit, spice, caramel, citrus and grapefruit. Taste of caramel, peach, toffee, lemon citrus, brett and touch of bitter hops. Lots going on in this one, sweet, sour, citrus, brett, and bitter. Interesting and good beer, alcohol well hidden.

Bottle from 2011. Pours dark brown with white head. Aromas of dried figs, clove, bread, caramel, alcohol. Same in the taste. Very smooth for such a big beer.

Bottle from a local shop. Big malty barleywine aroma & flavor. Didn’t really pick up too much Brett, maybe it needed some more time. Good beer, nothing totally stand out to me.

Color caoba anaranjado con espuma color crema densa. Aroma afrutado, plátano, naranja, especias, clavo, y alcohol. Cuerpo medio, inicio dulce y afrutado, con toques especiados, toque de naranja, que al final se unen a un amargor de intensidad media y seco. Rica.

Bottle I purchased in 2011. Held on to this on a whim. Pours a dark, thick, golden color. Lots of carbonation. I poured too fast and made a small mess. Looks and smells (and tastes) like a barleywine. Honey, toffee, cloves in the nose. A slightly syrupy feel, and lots of caramel and toffee in the taste. A little sweet, and little burning, bold flavors but still mellow. This tastes terrific!

An attractive ruby reddish amber. Large frothy tan head. Aroma is overripe red fruity, a touch of dark fruity, a hint of alcohol, a little spiciness, a bit of toffee. Flavor is much the same. Full body. More alcohol than in the nose. Finish is moderately dry. Soft and creamy. Very nice

Sweet and malty aroma and flavor. Slight funk but mostly sweet and malty. Get some Belgian yeast flavors to this one. Actually quite good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with friends. Pours clear amber with a pale head. Nose is malt, banana, bread. Mouthfeel is creamy. Taste was an odd, bittersweet flavor with some sour notes; maybe we got an infected bottle?

Beese (1540) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2014
Bottle from the Euston Tap, London. Poured a clear, dark brown colour, with a dense off-white head. Aroma of dark fruit, cloves and treacle. Fruity flavours, syrup and gentle hop bitterness. Very nice, full mouth feel. Finish was peppery hop, tinned fruit and citrus peal.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a a huge frothy tan head on there. Nose has that characteristic sweetness of the Belgian yeast, as well as a little bread in there and some slight candy. Taste is also rather sweet, with some hints of toast and a bit of a bite.

Light clear brown. Caramel, sugar, esters, balanced well between malt sweetness and hops. Nice bsa
