2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From bottle : Pours a hazy sweet tea brown. Very carbonated with bubbles. Hardly any head to speak off. Aroma on the other hand is very complex and robust. Slight floral hops and basement aroma. Also some alcohol, banana, and other mixed smells. Light on the tounge with a medium sweet taste. Not much of an aftertaste. Beer is ok, but this style isn’t for me.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear amber with a light tan foam. Traditional and floral hop aroma is apparent with just a light malt aroma. Initially sweet with a little brett character, but then heaps of bitterness and spice. No residual sweetness here.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
"compared to the only other Biere De Garde I’ve ever had, also a lost Abbey (Avant Garde), this was was bigger, hoppier, maltier, heavier, tastier, and just way more complex. The Bret was there, but not predominant. That’s what I ended up liking the most from this beer, the equal parts malty sweetness, hop bite, funky yeast, and alcohol kick...which was definitely there at 10%. This may be the barleywine of beire de gardes. poured a cloudy dark orange color, similar to some West Coast Barleys with the exception of the hughe amounts of yeast on the bottom of the bottle, with a very thin white head. The aroma is hoppier than the taste, although you still get some malt and fruit/spice from the yeast...and alcohol. the flavor is full and fairly complex...expertly balanced. Dry spicy hoppy lingering finish. Kind of an odd beer, but good nonetheless. May have to get another to age. This was an ’08 vintage."
