3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Initially pours a crystal clear gold with a huge firm white head, which leaves a truly awe inspiring degree of lacing. Later glasses are hazy, and then finally fully cloudy and without the initially brilliance, as the yeast at the bottom pours out. Nose of yeast, wheat, and hops, more than I would expect in a Belgian tripel or Belgian strong unless it came from California. Taste of, well, yeast, wheat, and enough hops to produce a smile without fighting with the Belgian strong type. Nice, works. Docked a point because, well, itís easier to make a beer work this well with this much alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pale yellow hazy. Spicy belgian citrus on nose. Quite fruity, oranges, yeloow fruity, even bananas(?), light lime citrus, coriandr, some ginger. Med bodied, well bittered. Fruity, fresh, belgy yeasty pale malty, some hay. Pretty nice belgian ... strong blonde? Flavourful, easy, im guessing the abv might be high, but doesnt feel like it.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750mL bottled 9/2013, drunk 2/2015.
Oddly enough, the cork shot off as soon as the cage was loosened, but then the beer didnít gush. Still resulted in a massive, thick, foamy white head that was slow to dissipate. Light blond/golden body is full of tight bubbles coarsing upwards.
Massively fruity esters in the nose (yellow fruits, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple....) give way to a bit of herbal hoppiness and a light dusting of white pepper and dry alcohol notes. A touch of bread-like maltiness can be discerned, but mostly this thing is just full-on fruity esters. Having had this a long time ago, probably closer to 2006 or so, I remember the nose being significantly less estery and much more herbal/peppery. Iím fairly certain this bottle sat warm/hot for too long, as there is dried beer below the cork where it has escaped obviously due to a strong refermentation. Fortunately, tons of esterification is the only downside of this and the beer still seems in good shape.
The flavor profile again speaks to the heavy fruitiness, with some definite alcohol undertones. Body is medium, sweetness is low and it reminds me a lot of Allagash Tripel. Very drinkable, quenching dryness and even some herbal/grassy hops thrown in for good measure. A delicious Belgian ale that seems much more Belgian than it does American. So that is nice.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A terrific Duvel-style ale. Pours super lively from the bottle, hazy yellow with beautiful huge white head. After it settled a bit, offers big aromas of Belgian yeast, lemon and grass. Flavor is great, with sweet banana, honey, some citrus rind complexity and a zesty dry finish. Lovely.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
75cl bottle served in a Prearis glass (identical in style to a Lost Abbey glass). Pours a clear straw colour with a massively creamy, billowing white head which lasts and lasts. Aroma is sourdough, Belgian yeasty esters and other wonderful ingredients. Taste is fantastic level of complexity for such a style. Banana and walnut bread giving way to a slightly refreshing dryness via the sweetness of cake. The best example of a Belgian golden ale I have experienced and close to perfect.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from some beer shop at some point in time over the last year! Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly broken white head. The aroma is rich citrus yeast. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a rich yeast, light fruit, alcoholic bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Corked and caged, 12.7 oz bottle, 9% abv. Nose is golden-yeasty, white grape with saffron, juicy honey and muscat, bit of dank herbal [spaghetti] hop character. Pours bright golden with a large and jiggling, tight white head. Airy, faintly tart body with medium alcohol, nice grape-honey character, somewhat vinous in nature. Smooth if full in the mouth with finely-textured carbonation, really no alcohol until the eventual gentle warming of the chest. Semi-dry despite starting with a swirling sugary character, golden malt character, straw, faint honey with light bitterness thatís clean and elegant. Mild but zesty lemony citrus and a slow-accumulating herbal blanket that reminds of old basil and new rosemary. Body is fuller and fuller with volume, tremendously smooth but heavy and a bit sludgy. If you squint, itís a great tripel in the Karmeliet vein (though without any vanilla).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a nice golden color. Aroma is mainly of hops and yeast. Nice heavier palate. Flavor is basically the same with a malt, grain and slight alcohol bonus. Leaves a yeasty yet toasty malt finish. Itís a good American Belgian brew.
