COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AKA Belle Proximus, a collaborative effort between Tomme Arthur, Vinnie Cilurzo, Lorenzo Dabove, Rob Tod, Adam Avery and Sam Calagione.

In March of 2006 five guys-Adam Avery, Vinnie Cilurzo, Rob Todd, Tomme Arthur accompanied Sam Calagione and Lorenzo Dabove The Prince of Pajottenland through a tour a tour of Belgium’s finiest Gueze producers. Many of the mysteries of Lambic production were answered along the way. They vowed to return to the states to brew a sour beer celebrating their experiences. In November of 2006 the reunited at Port Brewing to brew Isabelle Proximus.

In this bottle, you’ll find the answers to many of the questions that were first posed along their journey near the river Senne. However, like the mysteries of lambic beers, there remains one lingering question that was left unresolved. we hope like us, the next time you’re on a pilgrimage to Brussels you’ll drop by the Empire Club and let us know whether you prefer Green or Orange....

To celebrate my rating number 11,200 I enter this much sought after top-50 beer. A hazy light golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood, brettanomyces, lemon, and a light acidity. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of citrus and brettanomyces, and medium notes of wood and grapefruit, leading to a dry tart finish.

Bottled, thanks mreusch! Cloudy orange, brief head. Sweaty citric brett aroma. Tart and citric despite underlying malt sweetness. Juicy and quite full bodied. Concentrated citric horsenlanket flavour, like lambic beefed up and condensed. Has an amazing flavour, but lacks the complexity of the real lambics completely. A beer with a huge initial WOW-factor, but upon a closer inspection the surface starts cracking up.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2010 22nd July 2008. Sharp sour beer. Lemon acidity and bitterness. A hint of orange. Dry acidic finish. I could taste nothing of the oaking. This style of beer goes over my head so apologies to all you sour lovers! 3rd June 2010 - Brasserie 4:20. Thank you Alex!! Chalky tart fruitiness, a little wood. Pleasantly tart now this has really mellowed over the last 2 years (all who drunk it agreed), Now a tasty sour instead of lemon juice!

Cloudy blond color; poor head retention. Wonderful aroma, combination of Brett, vanilla, peach; lemony and sour, cobwebs; even a shade of sweet nuts. Lean body; it has a lemon flavor, woody and astringent, with cellar notes. The final is more sharply astringent and showing the acid side. Wonderful.
