A life worth living is full of discovery and we are reminded everywhere there is opportunity. All it takes is desire to seek out and find these things, these moments and everything in between. We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Please join us by raising your glass as we offer a toast to patience, perseverance, and all the things we have lost along the way and were somehow lucky enough to find once again.

Pours a huge head, crazy foam. Aroma of spice, candy, some apple. First sip is biting- heavy carbonation...Need to let it settle down. Rich, chocolate, coffee, sweet and malty flavors, with spice and raisin. Like eating a thick slice of dark brown candied bread. Enjoyed it.

Sampled at Barrios’ Sausage Fest 2010! Pours a slightly hazy burnt orange and ring of tan head. Nose is brown sugar and a slightly yeasty sour note. Very massive carbonation. Fairly good.

Pours a hazy copper body with a lacing beige head. Aromas of bread, dried fruit, caramel. Flavors of dried fruit, dark bread, little sour. Finish is dry, sour, dark sweetness.

Smells of less than fresh blue berry muffins. Plenty of sour and yeast notes. Some pumpkin and other spice notes as well. Pours a deep red hazy brown. Apple, flour, and apple tart flavors. Tastes baked fresh though. Apple cheese cake.

I need to rate this now otherwise I will forget, had this one last night and I may have made a mistake by having the Sinner’s ’09 before this, I’ll cover this later in the review. Pours out a deep ruddy brown with a nice finger thick tan head to it. No carbonation problems here. Aroma is nice full of rich wood and earthy notes followed by a sweetness of raisins, vanillia, cherries, and figs. Here comes my possible mistake, I wonder if the bottle of Sinner’s ’09 and it’s overall sourness shot my palate because for some reason this beer’s flavor did not stand out well and actually had a bit of a sour taste to me as well. Carbonation was lively and made itself known without overpowering. Yeast was a bit doughy on this one and towards the bottom of the bottle it became a bit unpleasant, too much yeast in suspension takes away from the flavor (again this could have been my fault with too rough of a pour). Sweet flavors try to come out in the form of figs and candied sugar but still that sourness remained. Anyway a good effort by Lost Abbey, and I would certainly sample again.

well, I sure cant go with the flow on this. After the bottle’s cracked the beer’s happy to see me: it overflow. It’s ok. Poured with a big off white head and some lace. Color is a nice rich mahoganey. Aroma is a little raisiny but not as rich as I’d anticipated. Flav is decent but not as big as I’d figured. Good body and carbonation. A little boozy at the end. Not one of my favs, bot not bad.

750 mL bottle, corked & caged - 2007 version, fresh: dark, cloudy mahogany...frothy tan head diminishes quickly, but the carbonation is held by the liquid as the body is lively and tingly. Raisny, dark caramel aroma, cherry skins and strawberries play their part along with light alcohol twang and honey. Spicy at the tip of the tongue with star anise and coconut. The flavour profile is complex with dark yeasts, bitter hops and a gooey fig sweetness. A smooth body and wonderful texture. Long, toasted whiskey malt finish...superb.

’08 bottle. Pours reddish/brown, thick off white head. Aroma loaded with raisins, some caramel malts toffee like, grainy with touch of yeast. Flavor, lots of thick fruit palate, raisins, berries, some yeast. Contact of fruits is followed by notes of caramel malts, hints of chocolate and light fruit sourness. Pleasantly surprised with this one.
