Commercial Description:
A life worth living is full of discovery and we are reminded everywhere there is opportunity. All it takes is desire to seek out and find these things, these moments and everything in between. We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Please join us by raising your glass as we offer a toast to patience, perseverance, and all the things we have lost along the way and were somehow lucky enough to find once again.

Sample from 750 ml bottle at the Mondial, Montreal (May 2007). Dark, hazy caramel body with a decent jigger of head, nicely lasting and with thick lacing....wonderfully rich, sweet, decadent aroma, fine herbs and a bit of hardwood smoke, caky and juicy....the body, however, is fairly dry and yeasty-cobwebby, the sugars much subdued....hints of dry grape/wine character grow stronger towards the effervescent, lightly tart finish....quite supple and airy on the tongue, but never for a moment feeling thin or watery....this is quite an interesting take on the dubbel, beautifully constructed and uncompromising, just lovely.

750ml bottle: This one pours an opaque, reddish-brown color. There was a decent sized tan head on the pour, but it dropped away rather quickly. Very nice nose. Raisins, rum, caramel, slight spiciness, a mix of some other fruits and some other unidentifiable sources of sweetness. The taste is very good. There is a lot going on in there, but you can pick out some raisin, caramel, dark fruits, and I believe a touch of roastiness just trying to peak out. Very Nice!

Pours a reddish brown with a decent off white head. Aroma of rasins, molasses, sugars, spices, and yeast. Flavor is rasin, caramel, spices, fruit, and esthers. Nice and balanced. Really enjoyed this one.

Maybe I was expecting too much from this one, as it is solid, but I was expecting more. Poured with a dark but minimal head. Molasses like taste and texture (sort of like old viscosity) but with a bit of funk from the Belgian yeast. Solid, but not perfect.

Bottle. Dark amber pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of raisins, yeast and plum. Taste of bread, yeast caramel and spices with a great finish.

brown opaque hue, with a bone color head. Aroma was very malty mostly bread and yeast but some fruit notes. initial flavor was of bread notes, followed buy mild fruit notes and a warming alcohol finish. Spices were present but very mild.
