COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five thousand years ago the Mayan Calendar last turned over. Since then, Nostradamus, The Book of Revelations and random Shaman have all prognosticated that mankind would meet a fateful end. Currently, our demise is scheduled for December 21, 2012 for it has been so decreed our world is about to end not in a Christian Judgment Day but rather a Mayan Apocalypse. Funny thing is, the Mayans don’t actually believe in the concept of an Apocalypse. We at The Lost Abbey didn’t want to miss an opportunity to update our original Judgment Day recipe to accompany us as we collide towards this impending Rapture. Like us, we’re pretty sure you can believe in dried Chiles, Cinnamon and Tamarind working well together in this beer. This means you can count on this little bottle of beer to help you survive this cultural Armageddon. Please pop the cork and enjoy this version. We’ve got you covered. See you on December 22nd wherever life may take us.

RexTalionis (3433) - FINLAND - JUL 19, 2013
Bottle 37,5 cl, best after 21.12.2012. Pours dark brown in color with a creamy tan head. Dark fruits as in raisins, bit of yeasty notes, old cellar notes too in aroma. Sweet dark raisins fruityness in taste, some chocolate, a bit of biting hot and light spicyness as in cinnamon in flavor. Soft and moussy mouthfeel. Excellent as a dessert beer together with some ice cream. Aftertaste has even that nice vinous vibe in it.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, farinsocker, kakao, belgisk jäst, mörk torkad frukt med fokus på russin med toner av chili. Rund och len, lagom sötma, välbalanserad med en trevlig beska. Gott.

37,5 cl bottle @ home, BA 21.12.2012
Aroma is sweet with alcohol, berries, caramel and some spices. Flavour is quite messy with stinging alcohol, berries, some spices. Foamy palate is too high on CO2. Messy and boozy like some quads from Danish breweries. Somehow the feeling of alcohol fits here though. A slow sipper in LA style, worse than the others though.

olio (8807) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 29, 2013
375 ml bottle. Best after 12.12.2012.
Pours dark ruby red color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of berries, caramel, ripe fruits and yeast. Flavor of ripe fruits, ash, berries, malts, yeast and faint spice notes. Way too strong carbonation, dry palate. Definitely a disappointment.

lusikka (7649) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 29, 2013
375 ml bottle.
Pours a dark amber brown colour with a large foamy head. Aroma of sweet tart berries, dark chocolate and some alcohol. Flavour of sweet caramel, tart berries, alcohol, metallic notes, dark chocolate, some off-flavours, grass and spices. Medium bodied, massive carbonation and a long, sweet, alcohol burning, metallic finish. Horrible balance and pretty close to a homebrew. What a disappointment. Hopefully it’s just this bottle.
