COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five thousand years ago the Mayan Calendar last turned over. Since then, Nostradamus, The Book of Revelations and random Shaman have all prognosticated that mankind would meet a fateful end. Currently, our demise is scheduled for December 21, 2012 for it has been so decreed our world is about to end not in a Christian Judgment Day but rather a Mayan Apocalypse. Funny thing is, the Mayans don’t actually believe in the concept of an Apocalypse. We at The Lost Abbey didn’t want to miss an opportunity to update our original Judgment Day recipe to accompany us as we collide towards this impending Rapture. Like us, we’re pretty sure you can believe in dried Chiles, Cinnamon and Tamarind working well together in this beer. This means you can count on this little bottle of beer to help you survive this cultural Armageddon. Please pop the cork and enjoy this version. We’ve got you covered. See you on December 22nd wherever life may take us.

Picked up tonight at Brewforia Meridian... A 4 finger brown head took forever to die back... nice lacing... the brew is a turbid dark dark dark brown. Nose is spicy with both cinnamon and chili and some Belgian phenols. Flavor is a little flimsy, the aromas are better... a bit of brown maltiness with the accompanying cinnamon and something that I guess is the tamarind.... chili flavor builds along with a little head. Belgian character is there, but a bit lost in the other flavors... could use more malt flavor IMO Body is light and is punctuated by a big carbonation. Decent brew... 3rd time I’ve had it... Doubt it will get better, but I like it and will buy a couple more for the cellar if I find them.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a cloudy opaque nutty brown with an orange hue and a creamy, lacing beige head. Nutty, roasty nose with a touch of sweet chocolate. Solid body, somewhat overdone carbonation (!), nuts, burned caramel and spices with a slightly roasty finish. Some warming alcohol in the finish. Not so much of a Quad to me - and the excessive carbonation is quite annoying. 250313

Pouring at the Saturday sessions of Extreme Beerfest. Pours a hazed brown with a large yellowed beige head. Spicy, fuzzy musk, a touch of paper. Sweet, caramel, chocolate, prune and plum. Lots of roast, warm cocoa. Chocolate, roast, plum, more fuzzy muskiness. Lingering alcohol and wood on the finish.

The pour is dark brown with a thick brown head. The nose is like rye spice, some chocolate, some green apple, light coffee and dark fruits. The taste is mildy sweet with a medium to heavy bitterness. It just tastes a bit off. The mouthfeel is sharp and astringent. The body is heavy and the finish is log. I think there was no need to do this to an already good beer. It's not on par with a Belgian strong ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Got something small to celibrate, and the name of this beer is related. Very dark brown beer, a good head that holds nice and steady. Malts, raisins and spiced coffee and chocolate. Not bad at all. I like the spices and maybe this one will age even better. If It was some cheaper I would buy more for sure. When warming up there get some more unpleasant biterness trough. That is a bit sad.
