3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance was hazy brown with creamy lasting tannish 1/2 head, no lacing. Aromas are sweet malts, spices , chilis, funky yeasty bready thing going on. Taste are funky yeasts, touches of sweet deep malts, raisin, plum, cinnamon, chili heat. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with full body, then fruity lasting warming alcoholic yeasty finish. Different brew...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Dark brown pour with ruby-red edges, topped with a light-tan foam that settles pretty quickly. Slight dark fruity tartness on the nose. Raisin, plum, black cherries, all lacquered with a big malty sweetness underneath. Caramel, toasted bread, toffee, light molasses. Don’t get much spice on the nose at all, honestly. Flavor is heavy on the caramel malt & molasses, alongside some notes of dry cocoa powder. Boozy raisins, black cherries, plums, clove, & finally a small hint of chili powder adding a bit of spice towards the back-end. Slight alcohol warmth. Finish lingers with raisin, plum, & molasses. Would have liked to see a little more of the chili, cinnamon, & spice. Not bad, just a touch underwhelming.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle.355@brewdog, hki. Dark brown. Broen malty, slight spicy, but sort of lively fruity. Dark fruits, some figs, bit plummy, malty though, not too syrupy on the nose at least. Some yeasty soft full belgy notes. Full bodied, some oilyness, but finishes on a clean, long, palate. Real nice. Intensive dark fruityness, some woody flavours, chocolate, slight sweet dark fruits. A sipper for a stay-at-home, read a book- type of a dark cold evening. Bit more carbonated than your average quad, adds to the deceptive light feel.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle, on 03.02.2015 (2 years after initial release?). Pours dark brown with small head, disappearing fast. Aroma: very complex aroma of raisins, chillies, coffee, some "wild" Belgian yeast, spices (cinnamon) with a strong dark chocolate foundation. Taste: also very complex, with all elements perfectly balanced: dark chocolate, coffee, raisins, subtle chilli, some wild yeast and hoppy bitterness in the background. Subtle alcohol warming in the palate. This is a very complex beer, at the same time with no "in your face" effect regarding any of the ingredients (perfect balance!). Fantastic stuff. Ont of the most complex quads I ever had.

Starts with dark chocolate as well as dark fruit, mostly raisin, flavors. Finishes fairly smooth with notes of cinnamon as well as a bit of booze that lingers with the chocolate on the palate. Rich, complex beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
May 4th, 2013 - The third gift here on the anniversary of Lost Abbey’s birth is the Mayan Apocalypse Judgment Day. While the body is dark, black and ominous (even in a relatively thin glass) the top is a bleached tan color, with a heavy mottled thickness. This tamps down the aroma, though I still detect a fresh, water nutty aroma, complemented by the botanical sweetness of sprouted malt and a tough of bitterness from cocoa powder. There might also be a bit of cooked bacon from a smoked ingredient. The flavor is massively more intense than the aroma. Here again bacon makes a welcome appearance, made drinkable by a malty layer. The blend is akin to a scotch ale, or whatever offspring would come out of the unholy union of scotch ale and a barley wine. It’s those deep, sweet caramel rich malts followed by the intense punctuation of cocoa nibs. As for the palate, it’s soft and pillowy, and brings a slew of other flavors to the surface: raisin, freshly Aeropressed coffee, teriyaki and a good punch of alcohol. It’s another incredible beer, and is the third knock out brew in a row.

Bottle at Craftheads. Yum. Aroma is porridge, sweetness, quad stuff, sweet maltiness, bit of fruit, no sign of the spice. Taste is great. Dubbel like beefiness, sweet, maybe a touch of spice at the end. Raisins. Good stuff. Classic quad with a spicy finish. Boozy at the end too.
