COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five thousand years ago the Mayan Calendar last turned over. Since then, Nostradamus, The Book of Revelations and random Shaman have all prognosticated that mankind would meet a fateful end. Currently, our demise is scheduled for December 21, 2012 for it has been so decreed our world is about to end not in a Christian Judgment Day but rather a Mayan Apocalypse. Funny thing is, the Mayans don’t actually believe in the concept of an Apocalypse. We at The Lost Abbey didn’t want to miss an opportunity to update our original Judgment Day recipe to accompany us as we collide towards this impending Rapture. Like us, we’re pretty sure you can believe in dried Chiles, Cinnamon and Tamarind working well together in this beer. This means you can count on this little bottle of beer to help you survive this cultural Armageddon. Please pop the cork and enjoy this version. We’ve got you covered. See you on December 22nd wherever life may take us.

Znakomite quadrupel amerykanskie. Fajna buteleczka korkowana, a korek hucznie strzelil. Aromat porto i winiaku. Wyglad to piekne ciemnobrazowe piwo z bordowym refleksem. Metne na koniec ze prawie czarne sie robi. Bardzo ladna i trwala piana jak na ten gatunek. Jest trwala, kremowa i bezowa. W smaku jakby sliwki, rodzynki i rum. Alkoholowa nuta wyczuwalna. Szlachetny alkohol przyjemnie rozgrzewa i relaksuje. Wspaniale piwo, swietnie pasowalo do francuskiego sera plesniowego. Polecam

As someone who normally doesn't go for Belgian strongs, let me be the first (?) to say that this is an impressive one. All the strong Belgian notes are spot on: slightly malty backbone, well masked ABV, high carbonation, etc. The twist of the spices that the brewer added makes it interestingly impressive. While the spices are present throughout, I especially like how the spiciness lingers for a while afterwards. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2013 "The world has ended a long time ago, we are going backward."Jhonn Balance. Thx! to Niel sampled 375 ml. corked & caged LA bottle. Pours dark brown with little beige head. Nose is dark fruits, light chocolate, spices, sweet herbs, very light licorish,… Taste is overripe dark fruits, soaked raisins, clear booze, ferment dark fruits booze, red grapes, sweet, light chocolate, mellow malts, light vanilla oak, not really getting oak,.. Bit explosive carb. Not really getting chilli here,… A clear attempt to imitate the greats of the style, solid but far from the top.

Bottle at Schouskjelleren. Very dark, fluffy head. Dried fruit, prunes and figs. Deceivingly light mouth feel, very drinkable. White peper, salt, liquorice. The chili is very discreet. Incredible beer!

Bottle 375ml @ Geokkjer
Pours dark brown with a off-white/tan head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, chocolate, dried fruits, vineous, alcohol and cinnamon. Taste is heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a warm, fruity and chili spicy finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Huge yellow-beige head, big bubbled & irregular, fully resistant and leaving lace over virtually black beer. Nose bursting with exotic vegetables, herbs and fruit. Chocolate and chili peppers; promising fiery heat and complexity. Chocalte, burnt, COł acidity, dark fruit, coffee cream, Bitter-sweet-spicy and yet moderate heat in the mouth. Bit aldehyde-like - the cinnamon? Again dark fruit in the background, steeped in brandy. Very creamy head, spritzy liquid and velvety, full-bodied beer; warming. Simply excellent.

Bottle from Jan thanks a lot. A dark amber beer with huge creamy head. Nose is intense on red fruit, spices and smooth caramel. Aroma is on smooth and creamy caramel, with spice, over ripped quetches, vanilla and cherry touch, clove hints, light chilli notes but not excessive at all. Body is very sweet, intense red candied fruits, complex, prune, toffee. Finish is more on chilli and red vegetables but still some good round caramel and Belgian yeast there, light bubble gum. This beer is very nice and remind me the Pannepeut from De Struise with additional brandy touch. Very nice, what to expect more ?

A cork open with a nice pop. A beer is dark brown with a big, dense and yellowish beige head. The nose is interesting and very tastefull, sweet strawberries, dark fruits, spices, some aromatic perfume nuancees. Taste is intensive, dark dried fruits, some earthyness, hint of strawberries, the long end is spicy and have an influence on chilis. With yeast the taste is very smooth and each compenents are better balanced. Almost full bodied, high and smooth carbonation. The great aroma, also balanced and enjoyable beer with saucy.
