3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at the tasting room. The beer is a hazy yellow-orange color with a medium white head that dissipates gradually. Strings of lacing on the glass. Ginger, citrus and yeast in the nose. Medium-bodied with a floral character and flavors of sweet spices, yeast and apples. The finish is floral and fruity with a mild spice aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle thanks to robertdale. Golden somewhat cloudy pour. Yeasty, spicy, pepper and a touch of orange. Very drinkable. Saison is not normally my style but this was enjoyable.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Tart and floral with hints of peach aroma. cloudy golden color with a mid froth white head. Incredibly balanced light malt and strong floral at the start then mellows out nicely. This. Is. Amazing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured an awesome gold color but very unfiltered, no way transparent. Bright white head with long lacing. Smells mega fruity! Tastes just as fruity as it smells. Apples, grapefruit, orange & a bit of cinnamon. Mild amount alcohol is pleasant & blended well; gives way to the flavors. Can't taste the "Belgian yeast" in the aftertaste.

Draft. Aroma of a sour ale but has a rosemary and a lingering dry on the palate. Pretty good but the after taste is a little off putting.

January 6th, 2012 - Lost Abbey’s version of the Saison might be engineered for hot Southern Californian days, but it strays from the Southern Californian silver bullet of brewing: hops. Red Barn’s aroma is buttery and spicy, and then sweetened by a pronounced note of vanilla. The deep richness of custard supports this fine filigree of scents, and the whole concoction is topped off with a breath-taking touch of Iris. The flavor, like other saisons, is mild. A rich buttery texture dominates the background, while pepper and grass spiciness dance on the front of the palate, accompanied by a slight grainy sweetness, and a beautifully balanced, rich and creamy pastoral flavor.
