COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Poured to NB globe A: pours a golden straw hue with two finger medium thickness head which resolves to a decent quilt of loosely whipped egg white. Affluent lacing around edges. The rim of the beer creeps up the sides as though begging to rise. Good looker. S: Banana, clove, over steeped black tea, herbal grassiness, lemon rinds, and the slightest hint of sweet mint. I like the subtlety and complexity of the nose here. T: Earthy, bitter, sweet, grainy. Whispers of tea, hay, sourness. The nose is more intriguing than the taste. Tannic. M: Initially quite slicking, the finish dries like a red wine (think cab, syrah, malbec). Steals the moisture from the palate. This makes me require another drink to replenish that initial lubrication prior to the drying. Light body with punchy carbonation. Fun mouthfeel. D: This is a good beer. I canít say I would drink more than one in a sitting, but 750ml is not a challenge by any means. Iím just now getting into saisons, weíll see how I feel in a couple months about this one. Hazy greyed orange with white foamy head. Rustic, coppery farm nose. Dry and spicy initial taste, bag of cheap oranges and soft bitterness. Firm carbonation but mouthfeel didnít quite marry with and juiciness in the main beer. Finish of straw, peppery and linger of lemon. Wee bit milky? Meh.

A nice enough saison, sweet but not overly so with oranges and peach to the front.. A slight pepper and spicy finish, did not pick up a huge saison feel but it was ok.

Bottle at the parentals with my dad. Pour is slightly hazy golden orange with a big white head and great lacing. Biscuity, doughy, big fruity, basil, coriander, and tangy aroma. Taste is fruity, hay, semi-sweet, light banana, oranges, herbs, straw, white pepper and cereal. Medium body with high carbobation. Decent saison but not top tier.

Clean, light straw color with a nice pillowy white head. Good lacing. Aroma of light fruit, subtle spice, and pilsner beer. Very dry finish. Can pick up some pepper in the finish and aftertaste, and slight orange peel bitterness, but only because I looking for it. Not bad.
